#tiptuesday So my newest obsession is plants, lots and lots of plants! This is the first time in my life I have actually been able to keep them alive...so does that mean I am now officially an adult?! . Not sure if you can tell but I am totally winging it to be honest and what I have found most beneficial to my plants (and for myself) so far is pretty pots and baskets with the occasional leaf caress and whisper of love, oh and of course sun and water too hah! But serio...usly, I am learning how to tell from the feel of the soil if my plants need water or not and I have recently moved them to another room so I am watching their leaves closely to see if they seen unhappy in their new spot. Here is a great app that I have used recently (so far I have just used the free trial) where you can take a picture of your plant and get all the useful care info. https://apps.apple.com//picturethis-plant-ide/id1252497129. Pretty awesome and super helpful! When buying a plant, I would recommend making sure that it comes with one of those little plastic tags stuck in the dirt...these also contain super helpful tidbits of info like what sort of sunlight it needs and how often to water, who knew right?! Lol. Also, make sure to set an alarm on your phone so that you don’t forget to water them when needed. From what I’ve read it is always better to underwater than overwater so don’t get too excited (1/4 to 1/2 cup of water at a time depending on the size of the plant seems to be working for mine). Since I have moved my plants to their new spot I have set my alarm to check them again in a week and based on the feel of the soil I will determine if I need to water them or if they can wait another week. Remember not all plants are the same so you might need to set a few different alarms. Let’s hope I’m right . #tiptuesday Selling your home with your loveable fur babies can sometimes be difficult as animals aren’t always everyone’s best friend . And the reality is you want your home to appeal to everyone not just other pet lovers. Here are some tips to make this process easier and less stressful on you and your pet: If possible, have your pet stay at a friend or family’s house during the listing period. Chances are due to the listing week being so busy you won’t be staying at ...your house either! Remove cat litters, dog beds etc from the home. The reality is, especially for people who don’t have pets, animals smell. If your pet has to stay make sure the litter is cleaned multiple times a day and wash the dog bed or purchase a new one as a treat for your pup! While also reducing any lingering odours. Do a good vacuum! Although I will have your home cleaned top to bottom prior to listing it if your pet is staying home it would be a good idea to pop in a few days during the listing week to do a quick vacuum. Stray pet hair is not visually appealing plus you want to try and get any dander out of the house so people with allergies don’t react while viewing the home (because if so, they will be distracted and not very impressed so chances are we won’t be seeing a offer from them). Clean up all the dog poop in your back yard. One way to not sell your home is to have potential buyers step in poop while admiring your backyard . Don’t get me wrong here - I love animals! #tiptuesday Fall is a great time to do some preventative maintenance in and around your home! Here are a few tips to get your house ready for the upcoming winter months: Clean all those pesky fall leaves out of your gutters and check for cracks or damage and replace/repair accordingly. ... Drain your outdoor hoses, bring them inside and turn off the water to the outdoor hose bib inside the house to prevent leaking. Check your windows and door for heat loss and weatherstrip as needed to increase energy efficiency. Have your furnace and AC serviced so that both are in good working condition and will be ready to be used as needed. Now is a good time to change your furnace filter if you didn’t do that when completing your Spring home maintenance tasks. Change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Test all your winter equipment now, including your snow blower, so that once the snow hits you’ll be ready to go!
