Trying new exercises when you’re dealing with pain can be difficult and often scary . What if it hurts? Why am I doing it? How do I do it? . These are some of the questions that we get often and the answers are just as important as the exercise itself... . That’s why 1 on 1 attention is important, that’s why you need the time so that these questions can be addressed . If you’re looking for that quality attention and answers to your questions about training, exercise, or how you can get back to what you love, give us a in the comments below! See more
It’s a New Year, and it is common for people to use this as an opportunity to create new health goals and this is GREAT . But wouldn’t it be even better if these new plans led to results that lasted over time and created long lasting change? . This is why we believe it’s important to try and avoid plans (whether for training, nutrition etc) that help you achieve quick results... . Instead, develop one or two small habits at a time. Start with just today, then the week, then the month . You’ll be amazing at how these new habits stack like bricks and compile to develop a better you . What sustainable habit are you trying to work on? Let us know below See more
Different postures are good! And its awesome that we have many of them. #movementoptions . What did you think of the analogy? Let us know!
We can be a little asymmetrical because we can adapt to various stresses. We can become more resilient over time through load. We are living, ever changing organisms and mechanics are only one portion of our being . You are not a car . Your therapist is not a mechanic... . You are adaptable See more
What do you think Dalton and Laura are working on here?
Often we hear phrases like...this exercise is stressful on your knees or this puts a lot of stress on your lower back . These are often said as though the fact that theres more stress means that these are bad. However, more stress doesnt necessarily mean worse for you . It depends, are you trying to load the knee or back to develop increased strength or tolerance in that area? Is the load within your means to recover and adapt from? If this is the case, we may want ...additional stress on the knee or back in order to stimulate a response . Sometimes not enough stress can also be harmful, take all stress away and your body will take the path of least resistance and adapt accordingly . Remember, stress is amoral. The important thing is, do you need more stress to encourage adaptation, or do you need less stress because youre operating beyond your ability to adapt? See more

Question for everyone, how do you stay committed to your program? . Its easy to get off track, what measures, tools, mindset helps you stay committed??
Hitting your intense days is challenging, theres no doubt about that. But dont underestimate the value and importance of making your light days light . Theyre in the program because at the end of the day, they help improve your performance. If you make your light days intense days, you end up taking a toll on your body and the net training effect may not be as substantial . If youre a competitive person, we get it! That drive is what gets you where you are and thats im...portant . Try using that competitiveness during your light days. Aim to complete your workout EXACTLY as prescribed, take your recovery seriously. Focus on optimizing your recovery, sleep well, eat well, do your mindfulness . Own your light days . Have you struggled with making your light days light? Let us know how you navigated this below See more
Swipe for a helpful explanation of one reason why its important to switch up your program . Any questions @ The Movement Physio & Performance
Exercise is a huge component of our philosophy. The movements we choose for your program are never aimless, youll never get a sheet with a generic set of exercises from us . Instead, theyre always customized to you, your condition, your goals, and your response / feedback . We utilize a program that allows us to adjust as needed, with personalized videos for you to follow, and guidelines for your specific needs... . We also keep you accountable by checking in to make sure things are going as planned and if they arent, we make adjustments to the program . We are here to guide your exercise, your training, and your road to recovery . What exercise do you think Dalton is doing here? See more
Deadlifts!! What do you think?
Happy Birthday Dalton!
Rehab is messy, and most of the times unpredictable and up and down . In short, its a process! Its very important that both client and therapist are in it together . We believe that we are guides, coaches for your recovery. We dont claim to fix you, instead to nudge you in a direction that makes sense based upon what we know about your injury/circumstances, the science, and the research... . We can also help you understand what might be happening, how the process might go, and what you can do to maximize your chances of a great recovery . With this, although there isnt a fix there is the opportunity to learn how to take control of your health and make sound choices that can impact your recovery and your ability to do what you love! Its easy to get caught up in long-term goals. Dont get me wrong, its great to have those! But, not at the expense of what you need to do right now . In rehab, a lot of the times we are just trying to find something to start with, a building block . Youd be surprised once we find that spot, we can stack bricks one by one and eventually move towards your long term goal(s)... . The trick is to find something that works to start with, accomplish a micro goal, and then accomplish the next micro goal and so on! . Are you looking to find an entry point? what do you want to start? See more

This is Chris @chrisjuman hitting a pain free tempo squat at 530 lb . Chris is a great example of the importance of understanding triggers for your issue(s) and load management . Changing the tempo his squatting and backing off the load that was triggering his pain really desensitize and continue to lift at a high level... . Weve still got lots of work to do as theres a few extra goals to hit for his other knee and shoulder. But definitely nice to see such a simple tweak make a big difference . Lets give it up for Chris!! #roadto600 See more

Something we have been thinking about lately! . Lets hear your thoughts
Education and learning is an important aspect of seeing someone for a problem . However, that individual does not get to decide what is important to you and ultimately what choices you get to make regarding your activity and/or your lifestyle . Seek to learn from a health care professional but ask yourself this question, is this person guiding me or are they telling me.... . You get to choose See more

If youre struggling with a problem, or you have a goal you want to achieve, avoid searching for secrets . Secrets are few and far between and time spent searching for them could be allocated learning and implementing principles . Principles can help you outline the steps you need to achieve your goal, and help you trust that it will work out even when things arent going perfectly at first...because you know your plan is based around sound principles... . In rehab, its important to try and learn some of these principles from your therapist. These are the lessons that can help you long-term, even beyond the confines of a clinic . So remember, dont search for secrets! Instead, learn the principles See more
