A message from our director: What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness?- John Steinbeck I always have told my students that you have to go through winter to appreciate summer.... ... We can only get to where we are supposed to be by living confidently in our journey. The journey of 2020 tested us in ways few of us could have imagined. We are in the midst of a global pandemic that has impacted millions of people as well as a racial and cultural awakening about the pain caused by a long history of racial injustice. Amid this landscape , I could not be prouder of the Dimensions In Dance community. I am astounded by the resilience we have shown as a community and the ability for us to join together with a human spirit that has enabled our children to have a sense of security and belonging through the art of dance. The outpouring of support, the sacrifices everyone has made fills me with such pride. Thank you all for being a part of of this journey with us and helping us create an impact where is matters most...with our children. It is with this that we will confidently drive forward and face 2021 with renewed optimism and hope. I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and Happy New Year! -Kimberly Kay

Flipping safely into Thursday like....... AMAZING job @lauren.grace_dance @shaunaughsey . Since the pandemic crisis began, Dimensions has always implemented the highest possible protocols to ensure the safety of all our students. We’ve worked alongside industry experts to establish standards with Dance Safe to ensure that kids can get back to dance! Some of these measures include: Advanced Covid Screening ... Temperature Checks Hand Sanitization Studio Isolation with regular fresh air exchange Social distancing Dance Class Cohorts Vital Oxide fogging between new users Masks for our teaching staff Professional zoom equipment to ensure dancers who are symptomatic can participate from home. From the outset, we have followed the industry guideline that while dancers are dancing, they may remove their masks. We have been closely monitoring the ever-changing industry protocols. In recent days, our government has targeted dance studios for closure in the regions of Toronto, Peel & Ottawa. Hundreds of businesses just like ours that were following all protocols were forced to shut their doors. It is for that reason that dance studios outside the regions including dimensions above have begun to implement masks. In regards to Masks, our communication has been and will always be that safety is first. That means that if a dancer feels that they need to remove their mask for ANY reason (Asthma or otherwise) they MAY choose to do so. For the vast majority of our dancers, Masks have provided no inhibition to them proceeding. Our faculty has been masking since the crisis began and have been able to teach and dance without restriction. We are seeking to strike a very delicate balance between our business continuing to operate, the requests of all our clients and the health and safety of everyone on our team. It is for all of the reasons stated above that we are strongly encouraging our dancers to wear masks while at the studio. It has been amazing to see our student’s adaptability, hard work and perseverance during this challenging time. We are all in this together!

THANK YOU for weathering this storm with us! These past few months have affected the lives of people around the globe. We were forced to instantly modify our habits and discover a new norm for work, school, and living. We learned social distancing, developed home/work routines and implemented online Zoom lessons. We are repeatedly washing our hands, and wearing masks to protect ourselves, family members, peers, and strangers. But, through this collective experience, we’re all... discovering a new strength. Community values are shining through in beautiful ways. Today, we would like to acknowledge the strength in our team. Our team of dancers, parents, grandparents, teachers, and office staff has been supporting us every step of this uncertain journey, all for the love of dance. For that, we want to take a moment to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your ability to adapt to this new reality is unparalleled. We believe solidarity will help us get through this together. We will continue to provide you the utmost support and a safe dance environment. In these moments of uncertainty, there is one thing you can always count onour commitment to our amazing team. We are extremely honoured to serve you today and in the future. Together we are stronger! -Dimensions in Dance

This weekend would have been the date for our 33rd annual year-end show. Our theme was "Dancing through the Decades" as we enter a new decade, we have certainly arrived at a turning point and a year we will always remember. To say this was an emotional week, would be an understatement. It's definitely not what I would have chosen, but there have been so many gifts during this. There is a paradox in our experience right now of the difficult and the beautiful and we must always... focus on the silver linings. It has been inspiring to watch our dancers embrace our pivot to online training and watch our parents cheering on their kids at home. I am so proud of our team and how quickly they adapted to teaching and learning in this new medium and the outpouring of support from our dance family. In times like these, we learn to embrace the challenges with an open heart because through these challenges our strength forms. Thank you for continuing to be a part of our Dimensions family and allowing us to share these opportunities for growth together. Thank you to the Mini company and their amazing parents for sending us this video <3 Love, Miss Kim <3

A message from our studio director: I think that the biggest gift we are seeing right now is the SPIRIT and LOVE coming from our students. Usually, at this time of year, I’m high-fiving and hugging my way through the backstage area at our year-end recital and competitive performances. It is a time of sheer joy; a time that not only fuels ME up, but that fuels up our dancers and sparks their passion.... Not having this normal experience is strange for all of us, but I don’t want that strangeness to overshadow the greatness that our kids are showing right now. I am prouder than ever to see our students fuel up on what IS possible, even though it looks different than what we’d all pictured. To see them flourish, to see their greatness shining through the computer screens and the social media posts and the car parades. Their sense of community, of belong, and of confidence is good for their souls, for mine, and for all of their families. They are the little heroes, showing up and bringing their contagious energy to their classmates and their teachers. They are proving that perseverance thrives in a positive mindset. Our dancers are fueling up differently this year, making new types of memories that a year ago we couldn’t have imagined. But DIFFERENT doesn’t have to be bad, and NEW doesn’t have to be scary. You just have to have the right perspective to see that it works! It has made me realize how, as dancers and performing artists, we have to answer this calling in our soul; this innate feeling to perform. Younger or older, less experienced or more, we all have this itch to be scratched, this goal to fulfill. As far as I’m concerned, what’s good for the soul is also good for the heart. I could not be more thankful for our PEOPLE than I am right now. Our kids and their families are what strengthen our community and make it possible to build such meaningful relationships. Our souls aren’t fueled on dance alone; they’re fueled by the connections we have to each other. Today and every day forward, I have a refreshed appreciation for these connections. Now, my question to you is this: What connections what PEOPLE are you feeling grateful for? Do they know how you feel? If you haven’t told them yet, do it today. Do it soon. We can all use a little more love and appreciation to fuel up with. It’s good for the soul. Virtual Hugs, Miss Kim

Our students continuing hard work and dedication to #keepdancing gave us inspiration to design this shirt. It has been incredibly heartwarming to see our students love for dance shine though this dark time. We love seeing all of your story tags and videos and cannot wait to return to business as usual but in the meantime These shirts were made white so that you have the option to make a craft out of this. The store will remain open until April 20th and can be purchased here: https://stores.inksoft.com/dimensions_in_dance_-_kee//home. All shirts will be delivered the week of May 4th.
