UPDATE ON FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND COVID-19 As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we know these are uncertain times. At The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, our fundraising events are crucial to funding the fight against cancer. Today, we are as committed as ever to ensuring safe, healthy and inspiring events in 2020. As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, we want to reassure you that while we continue our planning, we do so with an abundance of caution, ...closely following the World Health Organization (WHO), Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and our University Health Network (UHN) guidelines. As the situation evolves, we may need to modify some aspects of select events for the safety of all our participants, volunteers and supporters and we ask for your patience as we determine the form those modifications, if any, may take. One thing that will not change is our commitment to Conquering Cancer in our Lifetime and as always we thank you for partnering with us in our mission. For more information please visit www.thepmcf.ca/faq or check event-specific websites.

In October of last year, Molly and Ryan met while undergoing treatment for the same type of cancer. Both Molly and Ryan were diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, an uncommon diagnosis for people younger than 45. As healthy and active individuals, the news came as a shock to the couple, and the shared commonality brought them together. Everybody sees cancer as this looming disease. But if something like our relationship and both of us beating cancer comes from that, it's ...kind of like a flower that's growing between the concrete, says Ryan. Their relationship was certainly the silver lining to the situation they found themselves in. This month marks the couples 8-month anniversary and both are doing very well in their recovery! When a friend or family member has been impacted by cancer, it can make you feel helpless. There are many different ways you can show your support, but one of the most meaningful is creating a DIY Challenge fundraiser that showcases their story and raises critical funds for cancer research and care. That’s what Jillian’s friend Jason did. ... Jillian was only a few weeks away from her wedding to her fiancé, Adam, when she found out she had leukemia. Instead of getting ready for her dream wedding, she was packing a bag and headed to The Princess Margaret. Jillian’s friends and family rallied around her, including Adam’s childhood friend, Jason. He wanted to do something to help, and decided to raise funds for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre by running the distance of Canada from Cape Spear, NFLD to the Yukon/Alaska border a jaw-dropping 5,514 km. You can show your support for someone in your life who’s been affected by cancer by starting your own fundraiser with the DIY Challenge. We'd love to hear your "Why I DIY", so be sure to tag us and use #DIY2Conquer when you share your story!
