Port Main Engine functioning correctly, Captain! Captain Mike sympathizes with Bobblehead. The soothing sound of an engine lulls him to sleep too!
Holy Snowmen Captain Mike, that was quite the blizzard last weekend! We hope everyone made out ok. Bobblehead still has a lot of shoveling to do, especially with his tiny shovel. But he has until spring to get it done so it's all good!
Here's a little Saturday morning inspiration for you. #thisisourmoment #saskatooning #exploreyxe #exploresask
Our forward lounge features photographs of four ships - HMCS Saskatchewan H70 and HMCS Saskatoon K158, both of which served in the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II, as well as newer ships HMCS Saskatchewan 262 (decommissioned 1994) and HMCS Saskatoon which is currently in service on the west coast. Many past and present crew of The Prairie Lily have been members of Her Majesty's Royal Canadian Navy including Captain Mike (CPO, retired, 27 years). Thank you to them, the crews of our namesake ships and all those who did and do serve in all branches. We will remember them.
Thanks for dropping by! This was one of the winning photos from the Cameco Step Up for Mental Health virtual run Oct 7-12. People were asked to post a selfie during/after their run that depicted their neighborhood or town. Cameco is the corporate sponsor and 100% of funds raised go to support mental health initiatives. For more information go to: Cameco Step Up for Mental Health Virtual Run Club.
After last week's brush with becoming a BOB (bobblehead overboard), Bobblehead Captain Mike decided he better find out how deep the river is. Since he is made of clay, he knows, if he was a BOB, he wouldn't bob. So he checked The Prairie Lily's depth finder. Turns out the river is only 4 - 6 feet deep! While real Captain Mike could stand in most spots in the river and still drink his coffee, Bobblehead Captain Mike would just watch the fish go by....
Real Captain Mike keeps threatening to "float test" Bobblehead Captain Mike and drop him in the river! Bobblehead decided he better dress up today as a Ship's Survivor using one of the Prairie Lily's life jackets just in case! Unfortunately the life jackets are all adult and children sizes. Maybe he'll have to strap on with some reflective tape.... Stay safe, chin up and Happy Halloween!
As usual, Bobblehead Captain Mike is a little cheesy. After cheesing his lines, of course. If you look at the dock by the Prairie Lily, you'll see real Captain Mike insists on coiling the lines (cheesing) that tie up the ship. Not only does it look neat and is safer than ropes laying about, it makes a great platform for Bobblehead's photo shoot!

Bobblehead Captain Mike sure likes to blow his own horn! He's always wanted to sound "Shave and a hair cut" until Transport Canada puts in their "two bits". While the horn is fun and a sound of a Saskatoon summer, the blasts actually mean something! As notice to other river users, the really long one means, "We're leaving the dock." One short is "Turning to starboard (right)" and two is "Turning to port (left)". Bobblehead will just have to wait until he's off the ship to get his two bits in! #saskatooning #exploreyxe #exploresask #theprairielily
Captain Mike has had a LONG short summer this year so we're introducing Bobblehead Captain Mike to help out over the winter! He'll show up on our page regularly to show you around the ship (especially the smaller spots!), tell a few salty stories, and find out what else is going on around Saskatoon. Happy off-season Captain Mike! Tourism Saskatoon Tourism Saskatchewan Industry Communications #saskatooning #exploreyxe #exploresask #darbygoessaskatooning #theprairielily
The Prairie Lily crew would like to thank all our passengers for making our 2020 season safe for everyone while continuing to enjoy the beauty of the Meewasin Valley through downtown Saskatoon. We have completed our sailing schedule for the year and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Stay safe, be well.
The colours in the river valley are stunning today!
What a summer! Thank you very much for your support. We have a few more cruises left in September. If you can make it out, book soon! In the meantime, enjoy our Facebook Live cruise.
We would like to congratulate our neighbours, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival Inc. on the grand opening of their new site! We look forward to next season when this new stage will be used to welcome and entertain thousands of guests. They will be wowed by the new lights on site, just as we have been as we sail by!
There's no doubt about it, autumn is around the corner. It's one of our favourite times of the year. Viewing the beautiful river from The Prairie Lily is a great way to take in all the gorgeous fall colours!
Cruising on The Prairie Lily is pretty great when it's hot and sunny, but we think rainy day cruises are pretty fantastic too. The falling rain and the amazing scenery, all captured from the comfort of The Prairie Lily, creates an interesting, unique experience!
These are Saskatoon's champions. They are economy boosters, storytellers and professional pivoters. We would like to extend our thanks to the staff at Tourism Saskatoon for supporting our tourism economy and finding opportunity for all of us. With their creativity and action, Saskatoon is a better place. Follow them and see what great opportunities exist to explore Saskatoon safely and responsibly! #saskatooning #exploreyxe #exploresask #ccyxe #tourism
We're so happy our fantastic neighbour, Nutrien Wonderhub, is continuing their reopening plan! To celebrate, we're throwing it back to last year when Captain Mike couldn't resist taking a turn on the mini-Prairie Lily at the museum...he had so much fun that day!
