To our lovely community: First off... Hope you are all safe and feeling okay mentally. This is... Wild. Its hard on the noggin. We are all in the same boat. Todays decisions: all shows cancelled from now till the end of April. Anything after that is up in the air. But will be cancelled if need be, of course.... Capacity limited to 50 people. We are encouraging spaced seating. We will be closing at midnight, latest, every day. As things change, we will, of course. We are still open for you to come have some food or drinks. But dont come if youre sick. Stay home. Stay safe. We love yall. This is sad and hard. Lets all take a breather.

In response to the governments newest recommendations, including discouraging crowds larger than 250 people in size, the Royal is cutting our capacity to 100. We still want to put on our shows we have booked, and our cap of 160 is well under recommendations. But to add a little bit more caution to our procedures we are limiting door to 100. We are working closely with the bands and DJs we have scheduled to monitor feedback and make a collaborative, supportive decision about ...future closures or cancellations. If the government comes out with any new guidelines to help with this pandemic, we will continue following them and change as advised. In the meantime, please be safe. Wash your hands a lot. And dont work or go out if youre sick! In the meantime, all our food can be taken to go and we encourage you to try to continue supporting local businesses in any way you feel comfortable.

The Royal and @heavy_trip present: LES FILLES DE ILLIGHADAD, JUNE 29, 2020. We are honoured to have, all the way from Niger, one of the only female Taureg guitarists in the world, Fatou Seidi Ghali, and her band Les Filles de Illighadad grace our stage on June 29. Mixing traditional percussion with electric guitars, @lesfillesdeillighadad are breathing new life into the forgotten inspiration of Tengue guitar. . The band will be fresh off a massive US tour and a run of the Victoria and Vancouver jazz fests. Honestly folks this is a once in a lifetime show and an absolute coup for us to have at the Royal.
