All The Things with Stephanie Kennedy 21.09.2020

I saw this quote and edited it to reflect what I have learnt about motivation, discipline and habits. I am never motivated to get up and out of bed to do my wor...kout. Never. I like my bed and sleep and warmth. BUT I have a habit that has been built over the last 194 days...It has become a part of who I am. I am a person who wakes up every morning and does a workout. Every day. No days off. The no days off is important to me. It keeps me accountable. I know that no matter what, I do something to move my body, every day. This past week I tweaked my back...instead of using it as an excuse, I went to physio, modified my workouts and still got it done. A week later and I am 95% back to normal. Habits are a fascinating topic, that if you are looking to make a change in your daily life, there are great books about. For me, a challenge has always been the spark that helped me. From me keeping my #dailyworkoutstreak alive to finishing #75hard to completing #80dayobsession to giving up pop over a year ago to not having had a sweet/dessert until 75hard is over...challenges are what work for me. What works for you when you are trying to instil a new habit? #fitness #fitnessgoals #wellnessjourney #happymomhappyfamily #habittracker #habitsofhealth #habits #dailyhabits #5tothrive #90daychallenge #priorityplanner

It was opening day for the soccer season today! Slowly we are seeing some things return to our schedules. What are you bringing back and what are you saying goo...d-bye to forever? I did a podcast episode called The parenting PIVOT that dives deep into this idea of re-examining what our lives looked like pre-covid vs post-covid. What was once unfathomable 6 months ago is now a daily reality. We have redesigned what schools look like, what sports look like, what our day to day looks like. Have a listen and let me know what you are bringing back and what you have said good-bye to forever. HTTPS://www.lazyparenting.ca

Perfection is unattainable. Know that. It is the TRUTH.... Perfection in school, sports, health, relationships, work, and of course PARENTING as well. #lazyparenting is the idea of good enough. For both you AND your children. When we strive for perfection, and fall short (as everyone will in every aspect of life) we instantly feel the need to find a reason, so we BLAME. We blame ourselves, we blame our partners, we blame our parents, we blame our boss, we blame the teachers, we blame our co-workers, and worst of all... WE BLAME OUR CHILDREN. Our CHILDREN. Children who are learning, trying, failing, figuring it all out for the FIRST time. Imperfections in human beings is unavoidable. We must parent our children knowing this. Knowing that things will go wrong, expectations will not be met, wrong decisions will be made. We must FORGIVE ourselves, our partners, our children. We must recognize that love is never perfect. We must continue to love in spite of annoyance, disappointment, hurt and discouragement. And we must remember the same holds true for our children. Our children are resilient. They will be OK. Remember that you are good enough. Actually, take out the quotes. That minimizes it. You are good enough. YOU. ARE. GOOD. ENOUGH. #parenting #parentingtips #parentinglife #parentingishard #canadianparents #vancouverparents #vancouvermoms #vancouvermom #vancouvermomblogger #canadianpodcast #vancouverpodcast #parentingpodcast #momlife #momlifeunplugged #momsofinstagram #selfcare

When I first heard this quote I was Mind. Blown. Because, I have always viewed women’s rights as just trying to have SOME representation at the highest levels.... Just trying to get SOME women in positions of power. Just trying to get myself a seat at the table. I’ll never forget my first day as a student teacher walking in to the staff room and seeing the male science teachers (I was science/math) all seated together playing gin rummy in their lab coats and my older male practicum teacher looking at me like ‘what are you doing in here?’ I was determined to prove that I was capable and not scared of them. I was determined to be confident and self-assured. To handle anything he threw at me. It was just another example of males in my life thinking that they were more deserving, smarter, more capable than the women in the room. So reading this quote for the first time was a pivotal moment in my life. It reminded me that men for sooooooo long have been the only ones at the table with 100% representation. It wasn’t until women like #RBG #hilaryclinton #helengurleybrown #gloriasteinem showed up in my life that I realized 50% wasn’t enough. They and all the amazing, strong, and unrelenting women before them who have helped open doors and put cracks in the ceilings. Justice Ginzburg’s death has brought her story back into the light. Her fight must continue as our fight. We must fight for those without a voice, without a seat at the table, without a say in the decisions that directly and immediately impact their lives. SO we, the mothers, the wives, the sisters, the teachers, the doctors, the CEOs, the change makers, the quite frankly the shit-disturbers MUST continue to push forward and not be satisfied with a place at the table. We must push to have the table filled with women, with representation of all marginalized people who deserve to have a voice. WE. MUST. #riprbg #womensrights #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #equalityforall #genderequality

Education is the only way we will move forward. We must share these stories. We must listen and learn and do better.

Ok who else is sticking to their morning routine even amongst the chaos and stress you might be experiencing? It is now more than ever, when you are feeling all... the feels...to ground yourself on a solid morning routine where you can get your head right and your heart set. For me that is getting up at 6:30 EVERY day, working out, drinking a 1/3 of my water before my shower, listening to a podcast while getting ready to set my mind straight and give me some motivation, and then getting on with mothering my kids. And every night I end with making sure my gallon of water is done, I’ve read my 10 pages of a non-fiction book, I’ve gone for my 45min walk with my Chris, I’ve done my journal which I write down what I am grateful for, my stats on the day, and plan out the next day and finally read in bed a fiction book to relax & fall asleep to. Every day. I am a different person than I was when COVID started. I am calmer, happier, better able to handle the stuff that flies at me unexpectedly, and better able to be a mom to my four kids. Join me at 7am every morning for my LIVE workout on my other page https://www.facebook.com/thestephaniekennedy/
