Today I am thankful for... Local heroes!! My amazing next door neighbor Michelle is a wonderful teacher!! ... I have been extremely impressed when she shared her latest project that she has been working on with her class to teach them about Africville and one of its biggest heroes ~ Eddie Carvery! The work that she and her students did to honor him was absolutely beautiful!! Last night Michelle posted that another teacher who she works with went on her lunch break to show her grandfather Mr. Carvery! Reading Michelle's post put so much joy in my heart because Mr. Carvery was an exceptionally inspirational man to stand up for his community of Africville's rights, Michelle is a caring teacher to educate her students on the importance of knowing who our LOCAL heroes are and the importance of knowing the devastation that was caused to this LOCAL community and it is heartwarming to see that Mr. Carvery can feel just how appreciated he is for his dedication!! If you do not know about Africville or who Eddie Carvery is, I encourage you to do a little research as I know that you too will be saddened by what happened but will also be in awe at Mr. Carvery's faithful commitment to his community's cause! Thank you Michelle for the excellent work that you do everyday!!! Your hard work and enthusiasm to creatively teach your students is so awesome that you also inspire the world!! Today I am thankful for local heroes, especially Mr. Eddie Carvery and Mrs. Michelle Skanes Sparkes ~ you are both OUTSTANDING community members to be admired and celebrated!! Good morning friends! We couldn't resist... Yesterday was The Vegetorium Country Farm Market's first day offering chocolate bombs from our friend Cake by Rima ... We were excited to try the milk chocolate and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!! The white chocolate with crushed candy canes on top looked so pretty Isaiah kept asking to try it too and it was AMAZING!! These super pretty handmade treats are only $5 each and make the BEST little gift to hand out to everyone you know!! Will you choose dark, milk or white chocolate?
