SACKVILLE STARS Meet Jeff Mayhew and Kevin Marriott! Jeff (right) and Kevin (left) are co-owners of Sportwheels Sports-Excellence, located at 209 Sackville Dr...ive. Did you know that Sportwheels is a 4th generation family owned business? It was started by the Mayhew family in 1947 in Prince Edward Island as the Mayhew Cycle shop. They moved the business to Sackville in the 1960’sprimarily because of the racetrack! Fast forward to today and Sportwheels specializes in bikes, hockey, lacrosse, baseball, volleyball, disc golf and scooters! Kevin has worked with Jeff for over 10 years and bought in as a partner 3 years ago. Kevin brought baseball into the store, and now it’s their #1 category! Recently they opened The Warehouse Training Center, an indoor training facility for baseball and slow pitch. Sportwheels now employs over 20 people in 2 locations. Just a friendly reminder of our last tournament of the season on Saturday, Sept 26th. at HP Field. We are hosting Stellarton, Sydney, and Cole Harbour, and we... hope the girls are as excited as we are! So please tell all your friends and family to come and help cheer on and support the U12 girls. Game Times While there will be games being played all day, our games will be at 11am, 3pm and 7pm. As mentioned above, all games will be at HP Field, with the exception of our 7pm game, which will be under the lights at the Pit (Merv Sullivan Park). We encourage all to come early and watch some ball, but please be there. We will also have a BBQ on site at the HP Field. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tasks include: lining the field after games, putting down and taking up bases, and scorekeeper. A lot of work goes into hosting a tournament and many hands make light work, so if you are interested in helping on Saturday please let me know! -- Kelly HP U12 Girls Rep Team Manager
