The holiday season is upon us and we are definitely missing the energy of a full restaurant, however we want to make it easier to bring a little taste of the Monkey home with you! We have 10 frozen chicken pot pies available for pickup at either location. This pie can easily feed a family of 4 for $28 (no tax!). **Monkey Announcement** - we are offering 10% off all phoned in take out orders for the rest of the month! We know most of you may be heading out less with the increase in COVID cases lately and wanted to do something nice for anyone who is hunkering down. A personal story I want to share ~ co/owner Lil MacPherson. I know this is not food-related, but this day is so important I wanted to share a little of a personal story. (Mike Lewis is one of our Monkey artists) Thank you, Mike Lewis, for saying yes to this unusual request for painting my Dad's portrait with Jimmy's ashes. Remembering fallen soldiers and broking families. ... I want to honor my Dad and thank all the Canadian Veterans who gave not only their lives but also their souls. Prayers to all the families living with PTSD. My Dad was in the Second World War and it broke him. We were not allowed to watch any War movies, EVER, we were not allowed to ask him about the war, EVER, and he would not EVER go to a legion or any Veterans day ceremonies. His nightmares were in lockdown. I never understood our Dad until I talked to a war vet one day about PTSD and my Dad's strange behaviors when drinking which was daily. Now I understand. We all suffered terribly as a family and the Second World War was in our house every day. My little brother Jimmy hated, I mean really hated Alcohol as it caused us so much pain. Jim died of Alcohol poisoning. We all have our scars. There are no winners in war. My heart and prayers go out to all the families, sons, and daughters who are still fighting and living with wars. We must create a safer world. Pray for Peace. See more

2020 has been quite a year of turmoil, but hopefully there may be some positive changes that come from all the struggles we have endured. One group that is quickly making some noise in a very positive way is the @changeisbrewingco BIPOC Collective. Their message is simple: they aim to encourage those living and operating in our communities to become better acquainted with their surroundings and local opportunities. CIB wants to challenge others to follow in their footsteps a...nd encourage inclusivity in all spaces alike. A quote by one of the founding members Amber Zaza: "Changing the environment in these spaces to be more welcoming to different cultures, changing the environment in the back of the house for the employees, changing things that they might need for people of colour to come in comfortably and not to be in these spaces as tokens". Change is Brewing recently teamed up with @northbrewing to produce a beer called ‘The Cherry Brook Wheat Ale’ and we are featuring it at our restaurants! All proceeds going directly back into the collective. The beer (6.6% abv) is a toasted wheat ale brewed with Nova Scotia cherries, and is named after the rural community of Cherry Brook which has a predominantly Black population & is home to the Black Cultural Centre of Nova Scotia. We would encourage you, even if you can't make it in to try the beer and have a meal to check out what they are doing online. We always felt we’ve had a menu that was inclusive for everyone in terms of their eating habits (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, meat eaters), and we want to encourage inclusivity in all senses of the word to support our BIPOC brothers and sisters.
