We'd like to thank Falynn Shaw , Gordon Mcrae , Sylvia Lee McCormick , and Kathrine Iris Smrekar (not pictured here) for their Chillimas/Help for the Holidays fundraiser. And we'd like to thank all of you who donated money, or shared posts. With your help, they were able to raise over $1500 to put towards a hot meal on Christmas for those without family or friends to have a Christmas meal with, and to put towards keeping our lights on and doors open so we can continue to be the community cafe you know and love. We'll be making sugar cookies, gingerbread, shortbread, peppermint almond bark, almond snowball cookies, and orange cranberry oatmeal. You can order pre-mixed boxes, or make your own mix of flavours! $15 a dozen, or $30 for 24 cookies. You can call in orders, or make them in person at the cafe.

We are extremely humbled to announce that our suspended coffee program now includes the option of a free breakfast. In partnership with The HUB on Queen & The Bridge we have funding in place until the end of March 31, 2021. Every day there will be a limited number of breakfasts available and post it notes within the cafe will let you know if a free breakfast is still available that day. Our goal is to leverage this gift by soliciting others for food donations to expand the pr...ogram. The ‘Free Breakfast Program’ is not affiliated with ‘Out of the Cold’ program. Our goal is to help fight food insecurity in the downtown core by removing any shame someone may experience when needing help. Our hope is to feed a single mom & family who may be struggling, we want to feed food service workers who are currently laid off, we want to serve food to the business person who hasn’t landed a sale in months and we want to serve the most vulnerable in the area who for one reason or another cannot connect with a program. If we can break the stigma of asking for help, we will collectively get through this pandemic with less bruises & scars. Send us a DM if you know of a group in need and we will personally deliver to the group. We have people on standby waiting to help make this program a success. If you have a connection with a grocery store, let them know what we are doing and together we can ensure many more won’t start their day hungry. #loveyourneighbour

Since reopening the cafe May 12th we have noticed the extra ‘weight’ people are carrying on their shoulders along with the mask they’ve put on pretending everything is ok. I know at this moment we can’t have gatherings as before to be ‘a place for everyone’ but sometime in the future we will throw a party when 2020 is behind us. Today we will be closing at 3pm to support a fundraising initiative happening at Christ Community Church in Welland. The local church is raising funds to support @autismontarioniagara to bring more services to South Niagara. @autismontarioniagara has been hit hard financially during the pandemic yet they continue to work hard to support their families.... @thirdspaceonqueen is thrilled to support in a small way. #littlethingsarebigthings
