What a day this was ! Two very excited people 11 years ago today. This was when @realwillgadd and I first discovered the ice climbing at Helmcken Falls, BC. Compared to all the other times we have been there since, this, the first time had less ice than we ever. . I remember having the realisation that it was actually possible to climb on the small, fist size, ice blobs stuck into the rock on the right side of the second photo. This idea alone blew my mind, the ice was so p...erfect. A mix of spray and air making it soft enough to get first time placement but also hard enough to hold your body weight on the side of this crazy cave wall. This was the start of the future of steep ice climbing. The next ten years led to many of the the most wild and difficult ice climbs on the planet!
