The results for our test. We came up with a scoring system starting at 8 all the way down to 1. Best in each category received 8 points, second 7 points and so on. In the result of a tie, the point value was shared. All the data was collected from the Harman Allure on board computer for accuracy. The categories we as follows.... - Ignitor duration: how long it took to light the pellets and reach a temp to shutoff the ignitor. - Time to Reach Setpoint: how long it took to re...ach the preset constant burn temp of 172 degrees at the ESP probe located in the back of the stove. - Time in Mins at Setpoint: This is the time the pellets stayed at the 172C setpoint until the unit ran out of pellets. - Ash Content - this is a simple one. Less ash less cleaning. - Setpoint to Cooldown in Mins: This is the time the stove burnt the pellets and finally shut off once all the heat was out of the stove. - ESP Probe Temp: This one is probably the least important of all. It simply shows the highest heat the pellets spiked about the setpoint the stove is trying to maintain. See more

As Bruce Buffer says "Its time".... the pellet comparison is underway. We are testing 7 different brands to find out which one is best... stay tuned as over the next week or two we will have the results. The Stove: Harman Allure set on constant burn setting 4. 63% feed rate. Blower speed set to auto. The test: burn one bag and collect ash, measure stove output temp, check ESP temp and highest blower speed achieved. With Harman stoves the higher the temp the higher the blower... speed so the better the heat output from the pellet the higher the blower speed achieved. We are also measuring the heat output blower out the vent simply by taking a meat probe and keeping it in the flow of hot air just inside the air louvers. I don't think we will see a much higher temp between brands as the stove will adjust its blower speed to compensate for the heat output but we should see the same temps at a higher speed.
