COACH ANDRE - TITAN PERFORMANCE GENERAL MANAGER AND FITNESS INSTRUCTOR #fridayfeature #titanup #workout @nibifitness @ncacswim @elementalfirstaid ROLE... With over a decade of experience working in the Aquatics, Fitness and Recreation Industry and with his former role of Aquatics Director and Fitness Coordinator at the Ottawa Athletic Club (OAC), the closure of the OAC has brought Andre to the Management Team at Titan Performance. At the Ottawa Athletic Club, Andre managed the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Department and assisted with the operations of the Fitness Department teams and schedules. This consisted of managing over 80 fitness classes on a weekly basis, the conditioning centre as well as a team of 15 lifeguards and instructors. Andre will be implementing new programming and bringing onboard new and experienced instructors for our Titan clients! He loves to hear from all of our participants and will be the one answering the phone for any inquiries about our programs! EDUCATION Andre is a CALA-Certified Aquafitness Instructor and Fitness Instructor Specialist. He also holds almost a decade of experience training in Taekwondo and owns a local Swim Club and First Aid and CPR company through the Lifesaving Society of Ontario. INTERESTS Andre loves to keep active indoors and out and loves to swim. He is a former competitor in local and provincial lifeguard competitions and now is a Lifesaving Sport Coach with the Lifesaving Society. He spends the rest of his spare time learning from audiobooks and researching different nutrition, healthy and lifestyle facts/trends that relate to living a healthy, active life. FAMILY Born and raised in Carleton Place, Andre currently lives in his hometown with his wife (elementary school sweetheart), Mikayla and three daughters, Emmersyn (5), Everleigh (3), and Ivy-Lou (1 month). When he is not working, Andre loves doing home exercises and taking his daughters for walks around town to local parks, and places he grew up at around the town. Stationary Strides / Ankle Flexion. Having one leg planted will increase single leg stability while the other leg will be working on your skating stride range. Working on your ankle flexion will increase your capability of pushing your knees over your toes and increase to power of your toe snap. These balance exercises showcase the important aspect of avoiding long axis rotation. Avoidance of rotation (felt in the torso) is imperative in proper running technique, as rotation leads to a loss of energy. When running long distances, avoiding loss of energy is crucial. When the swing leg foot delays landing after the balance exercise is performed, residual rotation is avoided by remaining in position temporarily. Integrating a movement that replicates the running pattern achieves specificity, therefore, increasing the chance of transfer. As a founder of Titan Performance, Coach Joey brings over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. During this time, he has been working in the private sector training high performance athletes of all ages and also has also been working in the public sector working in the CFL for 9 years and at the USport level for 15 years where he currently holds the position of Lead Performance Coach with the University of Ottawa responsible for overseeing the training of over 900 Gee-Gee varsity & club athletes. EDUCATION Coach Joey earned his Bachelors in Science from the University of Ottawa and a Masters in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. He also holds a CSCS certification from the NSCA.
