Bigger spaces, fewer faces and cool fun on snowmobiles. That's pretty much our mantra this winter. We know many of our regular guests cannot travel to join us right now and we really appreciate the efforts everyone's making to help flatten the curve. We miss you and look forward to seeing you again soon. If you're in the vicinity this will be a great weekend to come snowmobiling. The forecast is looking good for the next few days. We have had 20 cm of fresh snow in the past w...eek and because things are a bit quieter this season those who can make it here are having a blast. Don't forget, kids go free on our Paradise Mine trips. It's a perfect opportunity to get your whole bubble out for some fresh air and fun. By the way, our regular snowmobiles are 600 cc 2-person touring sleds. The machine in this photograph is a Ski-doo Expedition 900cc 2-person touring snowmobile. Many of our guests know José as their expert and entertaining snowmobile or ATV guide but did you know he is also rapidly becoming a local legend as a trail builder and adventurer in the emerging world of downhill mountain biking. This is Zack ! He lives right at the base at Toby Creek Adventures with his mum and dad. Zack has grown up around Snowmobiles and ATVs and he knows how to ride ‘em. His dad is Smitty, our head guide and winter operations manager. Smitty has been guiding for TCA longer than anyone can remember. The ever-changing landscape of Paradise Basin. Never the same, always changing. At this time of year the wind does a lot of heavy lifting. It moves the snow around and builds drifts and cornices and powder stashes. Today it puts it over here and tomorrow it will have moved it over there.

The Holiday Season may look a little different this year but the mountains have not changed. If you are able to join us over the holidays we look forward to showing you bigger spaces and fewer faces. Please stay safe and healthy and comply with all BC government health orders and guidelines. We ask that you wear a mask, practice social distancing and stay within your bubble at all times, bring pocket-size hand sanitizer with you and use it as necessary, and come dressed for winter outdoor recreation and ready to go (your own ski or snowboard clothing is perfect). Our COVID-19 operating protocols can be viewed on our website.

As many of you will know, yesterday the BC Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced that the province-wide enhanced COVID-19 restrictions will be extended until Jan. 8, 2021. Toby Creek Adventures will continue to operate through the holiday season in accordance with the COVID operating plan we already have in place for this season. The safety of our staff and our guests is our #1 priority and our plan includes group separation, social distancing, wearing of mas...ks, hand sanitizing and enhanced cleaning and sanitizing. We also urge all our guests to come dressed in their own outdoor clothing and self-drive to our location. It is possible that some changes to our tour schedule will be necessary and we shall post updates if any changes are made. We fully support and comply with all BC Public Health Orders, restrictions and guidelines and will be monitoring any updates and adjusting as needed. Please be safe and stay healthy as we all get through these difficult times together. If you are unable to travel to join us due to the current restrictions we look forward to seeing you just as soon as possible.

We are working hard from home to find the best way to provide a safe experience for our guests in the future... We will adapt to the new challenges and we will keep creating memories of a life time. Really looking forward to seeing all of this in the rear view mirror and greeting everyone again with an extra layer of appreciation.

Paradise Basin is a truly magical place. It changes every day. Some of our guides have been with us for 10, 15 even 20 years and they will tell you it never gets old. Paradise is situated at 8000' and just at tree line in an alpine bowl surrounded by towering rocky peaks and ridges. This is the realm of the Alpine Larch tree, which at this time of year has lost all of its needles. Right now the Larches are covered with snow. The alpine wind makes a lonely wistful sigh as ...it gusts through their branches sweeping the powder snow into the air. They are especially magical when the light filters through the clouds and lightly falling snow and the ice crystals sparkle in the glades. We have acres and acres of open riding space and trails through the forest. When you're done exploring, there's a toasty warm cabin where you can park your snowmobile and sit by the fireplace to enjoy a tasty BBQ lunch that’s guaranteed to fill you up. Then with a final look back you will descend to the lower elevations and back to daily life, where you will start to dream of your next visit to Paradise. COVID safety protocol in place. Don't worry, we are very sure he will be on the job this evening and filling stockings with lots of treats and toys. #Repost @chrisconway.ca Invermere, BC Comet Neowise overhead and reflected in the surface of Lillian Lake near Invermere, BC.... NASA says comet Neowise is the brightest space iceball to fly by Earth since at least 1997 when the Hale-Bopp comet visited in the inner solar system. Neowise was last in Earth's vicinity 6,766 years ago and will not return for another 6,766 years. Its closest approach to Earth will occur on July 23, 2020, at a distance of only 103 million km while located in the constellation of Ursa Major. The comet made its closest approach to the Sun in early July and is now on it's way back to deep space. It will fade from unaided view by the end of the month. To view Neowise in the vicinity of Invermere and the Columbia Valley look for the Big Dipper within the Ursa Major constellation in the NNW at around midnight MDT. Neowise appears just below the Big Dipper and slightly right (east). POWDER ALERT !! Yes another one!! It has been snowing a LOT !! We don't have the precise snowfall from the last 24 hours yet but at Panorama across the road they are reporting 46 cm in 48 hrs and 34cm in the last 24 hrs. Up at Paradise we quite often get a few cm more. So hey who is counting anyway. It's DEEP !! And that means we are perfectly set up for lots of snowmobile fun going into Christmas and the holiday season. Our tours are operating.
