A major meatpacking company, Strauss Meats, that fired 29 workers this summer for reporting unsafe working conditions after employees tested positive for Covid-19, is attempting to build a massive new slaughterhouse facility in Franklin County, Wisconsin. WE NEED YOUR SIGNATURE TODAY on a petition that will be submitted to city officials early next week. As of October 16, according to the Food and Environment Reporting Network, at least 65,407 workers (45,588 meatpacking work...ers, 11,348 food processing workers, and 8,471 farmworkers) have tested positive for Covid-19 and at least 269 workers (215 meatpacking workers, 37 food processing workers, and 17 farmworkers) have died. As these numbers make clear, the overwhelming majority of covid infections and deaths in the food system have occurred at slaughterhouses. These disproportionate infection rates in meatpacking workers then spread out to their greater communities. A recent Bloomberg analysis found that U.S. counties with major slaughterhouse facilities have *twice* the covid infection rate of counties without; and in rural counties with meatpacking plants, the county infection rates soar to *five times* the average, the Food and Environment Reporting Network finds. With meat processing plants now identified as Covid hotspots around the globe, and numerous scientific reports calling industrial animal farming the single most risky behavior for future pandemics, the last thing we need are more killing factories. It's clear now more than ever: slaughterhouses do not belong in a post-Covid future. They belong in the dustbin of history. Please add your name to the petition today (before Oct 20) and help us tell Strauss, No More Slaughterhouses!

WHY CACTUS? Cactus is a natural carbon sink (has a great carbon-sequestring capacity). It takes approximately 3 leaves of cactus to create one linear meter of Desserto. We only cut the mature leaves of the plant without damaging the plant itself, enabling repeat harvest every 6-8 months from the same plants. Our USDA certified cactus is grown in an organic farming system in the fertile and mineral-rich region of Zacatecas, Mexico. ... We do not compete with food, we are giving cactus its highest value! October 2nd is WORLD DAY FOR FARMED ANIMALS Each year, an estimated 70 billion cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and other sentient land-based animals are caged, crowded, deprived, drugged, mutilated and macerated in the world's factory farms. Then they are brutally slaughtered for our dinner table. Countless aquatic animals are caught and suffocated by vast trawler nets, so we can have our fish fillet or tuna fish salad.... Since 1983, the annual observance of World Day for Farmed Animals on October 2nd (Gandhi's birthday) has been offering people of conscience a superb opportunity to memorialize and mourn these innocent lives. An opportunity to ask their friends and neighbors to stop subsidizing senseless atrocities at their supermarket checkout counter. Hundreds of groups and individuals throughout the world participate each year. We hope that you will participate this year! Add your name to the petition for a Slaughter-Free Toronto here: https://www.change.org/p/the-mayor-city-council-of-toronto- Because of the recent increase in COVID cases, Ontario’s government has now limited public gatherings to just 25 people. That means that the march from Toronto’s Slaughterhouse district to City Hall that we had planned for next Saturday, that hundreds of people had already expressed interest in attending, can obviously not proceed as planned. ... But rather than cancel event we have set a new goal: we’re going to proceed with 25 people (representing different Animal Rights, Environmental and hopefully Human Rights/ Labor groups that we’re reaching out to) to ideally represent 25,000 people who have signed the petition for a Slaughter-Free Toronto. Each person marching to represent 1,000 compassionate people, and more than 1,000 animals who are brutally killed every single day in Toronto’s slaughterhouses. There’s only one problem here: we need your help to get to 25,000 signatures. If you’ve already signed please @ two friends here in the comments (it could be friends who aren’t vegan yet, but who you think agree we should stop mass torturing and slaughtering animals every day in this city). We’ll still organize a massive public march in the Spring once the vaccine is out and the pandemic is under control, but in the meantime we don’t want to waste a day in sparking debate around Toronto as to whether our city should continue slaughtering tens of thousands of animals each day...

From Cantabria Animal Save 'At the slaughterhouse in Guarnizo, Cantabria. The lifeless body hanging from a cow, while its companions, still alive and waiting for their turn, look at it with curiosity, fear. We have no words to express on their behalf what they felt at the time. They were seeing with their own eyes the cruel fate that was waiting for them.... After listening all morning to their fellow women scream as they were killed, then they saw this. Some reacted with more attention and awareness of the situation. It was a hard time... for them, for us. We didn't believe anything so unfair, painful, horrible. THIS IS THE REALITY OF KILLERS. Let's not look away as it continues to happen day after day. More empathy. More action... Please. We will get the change we want to see in the world.'

Aerial view over a milk extraction (dairy) farm. Hundreds of solitary hutches house one female replacement cow each. These hutches are situated right by the manure lagoon that contains millions of gallons of waste from the thousands of cows at this one location. The stench is so overwhelming that if a human fell into the lagoon they’d drown. Cows can produce a hundred or more pounds of manure a day and it travels to where their kidnapped babies are being held. Calves are ...social beings who love making friends, being with their mother, and playing - yet all they can do is become stressed out and bored and scared in these lonely hutches. Instead of nursing on their mothers udders, they suckle on the bars and any other part of their hutch that they can. It’s not natural to breed other animals into existence, it’s not natural to consume the milk of another species or to drink milk as an adult, and it’s not natural to replace land with literal pools of shit. Our species has much to be ashamed of, not only the bizarre and ruthless ways we exploit other beings and take what isn’t ours, but also the fact that we let the most hardcore abusers get away with all their torture and killing on a daily basis with no instances of retaliation. #climatecrisis #climatechange #globalwarming #unsustainable #sustainability #drone #dronephoto #dairyisscary #dairy #dairyfarm #cows #calves #milk #gotmilk #dairyfarmer #dairyfarming #milkshake #cheese #icecream #idiocracy #selfish #humansarethevirus #locavore #carnivorediet #whyvegan #govegan #vegan #ecofriendlytips #environmentalist

We live in unprecedented times. Pandemic, climate crises all around our globe, the environment that would sustain us is breaking down. Science knows that the l...eading cause of all these is our relationship to the natural world and our exploitation of the animals. Activists try to show to the general public the truth behind animal agriculture even though the industry and the government wants to make it impossible to do so. It all comes down to profit at the expense of the health of the people, the environment and the animal lives sacrificed. Animal Rights activists are punished for documenting and telling the truth about the animal exploitation. Please join us! Exactly 100 days ago today on June 19th, brave animal rights activist Regan Russell lost her life while fighting for justice for victims of the animal agriculture industry. Regan had been attending vigils weekly for many years and was at a special Toronto Pig Save vigil outside Fearmans slaughterhouse that day in protest of Bill 156, a new ag-gag bill that had just passed in Ontario. Everyday we think of you Regan. You haven’t died in vain. You continue to insp...ire vegan ways of life and activism. The animal rights movement is growing under your wings. Said Toronto Pig Save co-founder, Anita Krajnc. Last weekend, there was a coordinated banner drop with activists around the world participating. Banners asked the question ‘why love one but eat the other?’ Varun Virlan, a Toronto area activist, is working with others on a long term campaign in Regan’s memory. Regan was a passionate, fearless, and dedicated activist who stood up for nonhuman animals until her very last breath... literally. Through the Regan Russell Pressure Campaign, we want to make sure that she does not die in vain. We are strategizing different ways to amplify Regan’s voice and further her cause of total animal liberation. We are calling for a Repeal of unjust ag-gag Bill 156 and for it to be replaced with a Regan Bill of Animal Rights. #JusticeForReganRussell See more
