Last Sunday's late opening allowed our Track Maintenance team to complete the installation of two diamond frogs at the Kennedy Double Crossover. You might remember from our last post that frogs are a crossing point of two rails. The nightly early closures allowed our Structure Maintenance team to complete liner repairs from Lawrence to Eglinton Stations. Thank you for your patience as we continue to make improvements to the TTC.

We’re thrilled to see TTC Operators recognized as part of Toronto Life's number 1 most influential Torontonians, along with other frontline workers. This year has been unprecedented and we’re so proud of the work of all our employees who have gone above and beyond to keep our city moving. Last week’s closure was different than usual. Not only did it start on Friday, but it also included two work zones within the closure boundaries: one from north of Eglinton Station to Finch Station for our Infrastructure and Engineering teams and another from Eglinton Station to north of Davisville Station for Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) for the Eglinton Crosstown Project. Within the CTS work zone, our teams spliced the Bell Canada telephone system from Eglinton Statio...n to Finch Station and tested 120 phone lines. Demolition of TTC tunnel walls and installation of the roof reinforcing steel beams also took place. CTS also delivered escalator trusses, installed more than 60 metres of fire suppression pipe, and completed a TTC tunnel wall investigation. Within the Infrastructure and Engineering work zone, Automatic Train Control (ATC) quality checks were completed on equipment installed between York Mills and Sheppard-Yonge Stations. Platform repairs were completed at North York Centre Station. Vent shaft work was completed at Sheppard-Yonge Station. Signal switch machine inspections were completed at the Lawrence and York Mills crossovers. The work also included leak and other repairs and various inspections. Thank you for your patience as we complete these vital improvements to Toronto’s transit network.
