Introducing The Big Spend Canada comes together July 25th to support small business FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:... The Canadian economy has been hit hard by COVID-19. Small, local businesses have been especially impacted, and now face the difficult task of recovery. Local small businesses provide nearly 70% of all private-sector jobs in Canada. On July 25, we are encouraging Canadians to be part of helping to revive our economy by making an intentional purchase at a local small business. The goal is to inject $100M into our economy on this single day. The Big Spend is meant to be more than a symbolic gesture of hope. It is a practical step we can take as part of a larger action plan for economic recovery in Canada. When we add the benefits of buying local to the positive impact of what economists call the multiplier effect we help create a snowball of growth for our communities, and our country as a whole. Community organizations, chambers of commerce, churches and Canadians across the country will be part of this special effort to help kick start the Canadian economic recovery process. As we move into Stage 3, here are helpful tips to prevent the spread of COVID-19
Who remembers Tiny Tots? Was it always on Oxford Street? Did you participate in this pre-school program? Are you in this photo of graduates? Do you know who is?

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! Today is National Ice Cream Sundae Day so we take this opportunity to share the following information about ice cream which was written by Eileen Campsall, home economist for the 1964 edition of the Borden Company employee newsletter, aptly named "The Canadian Milky Way". "TODAY'S ICE CREAM COMES IN A RAINBOW OF FLAVOURS... Ice cream has a long and fascinating history, going back many hundreds of years. However, for centuries it was a product reserved almost exclusively for kings and queens, the nobility and heads of state. Today, although it remains an aristocratic food, ice cream is within the reach of every Canadian at prices which make it one of the best food buys in the country. Not too many years ago, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice creams were the only flavours available. Today we have such tempting ice cream as BROWNIES 'N CREAM. This is a delicious vanilla ice cream with chunks of fudge frosted chocolate brownies; or BANANA STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM, which is a blending of fresh strawberries and the ever-popular banana ice cream. PEACHES 'N CREAM, STRAWBERRY 'N CREAM, GOLDEN VANILLA, VANILLA CHOCOLATE FUDGE, are just a few of the exciting new flavours. Individual servings are available today -- handy to serve and handle: SUNDAE CUPS, ESKIMO PIES, ESKI-MOLDS IN MAPLE AND PEPPERMINT. For the person on diet, there is OLYMPIC ICE MILK, a low fat, low calorie dessert...." The accompanying image shows the wide variety of ways to serve your favourite ice cream. During this heatwave, there is likely a lot of ice cream being sold. What is your favourite flavour?
AH, New York - the City that never sleeps. During recent weeks and months, New York City has been in the stranglehold of the Covid-19 outbreak. Only now is it beginning to re-open and resume its normal buzz of activity. Some of you will have been to the largest city in the United States as visitors. Today, it's maybe not the place you want to visit (even if you could). But for those of you with a hankering for travel, we share these postcard images of New York City, collected by former Ingersoll resident Fred Channing when he was there in the 1930s.
Beauty day! Why not take a stroll in downtown Ingersoll! #supportlocal #buycloseby #oxfordcounty #ingersollbia
School's out for summer!! While students have not been in class since the March Break, today we look back at the final day of school in 1984.
The postcard mailed in 1913 says you can't get homesick in Ingersoll, but in case some of you are homesick for your hometown, or the way it used to be, take a look at these images. Bring back some memories?
ANNOUNCEMENT: The Ingersoll Harvest Festival has been postponed. With great consideration, the Harvest Fest Committee has decided to postpone this year’s much anticipated Ingersoll Harvest Festival. As much as we hope to see relief from this pandemic, the safety of all event participants is of the utmost importance.
There was a time when the Borden Company was a major employer in Ingersoll. Now, no vestiges of the factory remain. For those of you who are "new" to town, the Borden factory was located where Tremblett's Independent Grocery is now situated. Does anyone recognize these smiling faces?
