Like you, we're excited to get out and enjoy fresh mountain air and start sliding on snow again. But now is the time to stay local and ski local. The Provincial Government is advising residents of British Columbia and those further afield not to travel for non-essential purposes. Revelstoke's Railway: Then and Now The Canadian Pacific Railway transferred its operational headquarters to Revelstoke in 1899 when it chose to move from Donald to a more centralized location. At that time, our community was already 14 years old, having been established in 1885 during the construction of the CPR.... By the early 1900s, the town of Revelstoke was a well-established centre of railway activity. The history of the Canadian Pacific Railway is one about great changes in geography, industry and the movement of people. The CPR played a pivotal role in the creation of Canada as a nation and continues to impact our country and community today. For more information, we recommend visiting the The Revelstoke Railway Museum located on an eleven-acre site adjacent to the mainline of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The museum plays a valuable and essential role in collecting, preserving and interpreting this history. Revelstoke Museum & Archives & Third Rock Explorations
