Next week (October 18-24) is Small Business week. Historically, this week is full of great workshops, collaborative, and mentoring opportunities for small businesses across the region. After all, small businesses are the backbone of our Northwestern Ontario communities, and they need to be supported and celebrated. This year the format is different due to Covid-19, but the opportunities to discuss, learn from, and celebrate with other small businesses across the region are still there. Check out the great programs put together by the Northwest Business Centre.

Calling all artists, creators, and champions! The Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, The City Of Kenora, The Muse - Lake of the Woods Museum and Douglas Family Art Centre, lowac - Lake of the Woods Arts Community, and Northwest Business Centre in partnership with ArtsBuild Ontario and NORDIK Institute , are mapping the creative spaces in your community. Have your say! Whether you are an artist with a private home studio, an arts collective leasing space in a commercia...l building, or something else entirely - your community wants to hear from you. In Search Of (Please Share) We are still looking for two photos of past municipal councils: 1988 - 1991 Term - Township of Sioux Narrows - Reeve Daniel Bouvier, Councillors Alice Motlong, Doreen Holland, Gale Black and Keith Kilfoyle.... 1991 - 1994 Term - Township of Sioux Narrows - Reeve Richard Motlong, Councillors Doreen Holland, Gale Black, Larry Fadden and Erick Bennett. Please contact us if you have a group photo of either of these past councils (it does not have to be taken at the council chambers or at a swearing-in ceremony, and while most ideal, it doesn't have to contain all members). Today the Northern Ontario Recovery Fund has begun accepting applications from northern Ontario businesses until December 31, 2020. This program is run through NOHFC and Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development & Mines. It will fund 100% of eligible projects up to $25,000. It is wonderful that there are two stunningly beautiful Provincial Parks located within our Municipal boundary. Sioux Narrows & Caliper Lake Provincial Parks are gems. We are pleased to see them featured along the Ontario Parks Northwestern Ontario Driving Route.
