We never completely know the challenges that await at a new race Reading all the course info and studying those maps is a major boost as knowledge is power. The challenges don't always arise from the known or unknown on the course but can arise from within on any given day. We head out there feeling confident and excited and we push ourselves through personal battles to get to the finish line and smile and laugh and feel great about our day!!!... Its stage 2 in beautiful Fernie, BC. Well it will be a year from now on this day. If you have never ridden the trails here you are really missing out. The 2021 event will consist of 2 days in Fernie, 2 days in Kimberley and 2 days in Rossland. It is a rainy morning out here in the Canadian Rockies. Brings back memories of our 2016 Golden 24 race with the epic racing conditions that a rainy night brought on. We all know the climb to the top of Highwood Pass. Most of us do it when the road is still closed and it is a little chilly out. The sun is shinning and the shoulders are in good condition so lets try and get back up there in the summer sun. This challenge will start just after the winter gates at Peter Lougheed park and continue to the top of the pass. The whole climb is roughly 17km long.
