Finally got a chance to use the indigo I’ve had for a while. Dyed a variety of cottons and a few skeins of merino. Time to wash it and decide how to use it on the loom. The Linthorne Store has a unique architectural history: Herbert John Linthorne, more commonly known as Bert, was born in1889 at Bonavista Newfoundland, the son ...of Robert and Elizabeth Way. At the age of 14 Herbert left for California. While there he built, restored and sold houses. After his return to Newfoundland, now in his early thirties, he built a home in Bonavista in a similar style he learned to build while in California. This style of building was unusual for Bonavista. The building was used as a dry goods and hardware store, salmon export and years later was used a location for the earliest Bonavista Museum. In 1997 the Bonavista Museum moved to a new location at the Ryan Premises National Historic Site. The Linthorne Store was expertly restored and now houses Sweet Rock Ice Cream and Treeline Fine Craft in the two ground floor spaces and The Linthorne Loft above, a vacation rental part of Russelltown Inn
