Warmth and Weather is pleased to offer organic merino wool and wool/silk clothing for the whole family. They are a sister company of Mercurius Canada, the company was launched for Waldorf families to purchase woollens while supporting their school. The importance of warmth for the developing child has been understood and recommended by Anthroposophical physicians and Waldorf teachers for over 100 years. When children, and adults too, are warm they have a sense of well-being. ...The woolens are organic and manufactured in Europe. The clothing is both kind to the skin and to the environment. ->Coupon Code for free shipping to your house: Trillium20<- *Orders can be placed at any time, **orders completed between October 1 and October 15 will qualify for free shipping when using the above code.** --

Trillium Waldorf School Position Statement on Racism in Waldorf Education- A Working Document The Trillium Waldorf School is aware of recent conversations about racism in Waldorf Education. We are listening and committed to making change to address and dismantle systemic racism where it exists. We recognize there are forms of racism and discrimination that are specific to Waldorf education. Indications, narratives or statements made by Rudolf Steiner that are racist or in co...nflict with principles of equity and respect do not inform our way of teaching or being in community. We unquestionably denounce these statements and the harm they cause. We are also committed to continually examining and bringing to light racist impulses stemming from Steiner’s work. It is important that we make concrete steps towards addressing systemic racism in our school and work towards healing racism in our broader culture. Since 2018, our faculty and staff have been working through the Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) training as a way to ensure we can nourish deep change in our community. Many of our faculty have also attended recent international conferences, workshops and trainings focused on social justice within Waldorf Education, and continue to participate in Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA)’s related webinars and forums. We commit to researching and addressing the ways in which our school culture might uphold white supremacy, including but not limited to: our hiring practices, our curriculum and events, our outreach and student enrollment and our policies and procedures. In 2020, we are activating a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion committee to guide and support lasting changes. Through these actions, we will strive to better understand how Waldorf culture as a whole can uphold the core principles that enrich our approach to education while transforming narratives that uphold white supremacy in our school. If you, or someone you know, has experienced racism or discrimination in any form at our school and are willing to speak with us about it, we humbly and respectfully invite your feedback. Please contact Christina Kingsbury, member of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee: [email protected]. Please also contact Christina if you are interested in participating in the DEI Committee.

The Owls and Owlets Parent and Child families had a lovely morning in the woods at Fourfold Farm yesterday. Folks made natural dyes by the fireside and explored the forest as the autumn leaves drifted down. We still have space in our Wednesday Farm program and our Thursday Morning Garden program! **Grey skies couldn't cloud over the beauty of this morning's Rose Ceremony at Trillium Waldorf School!** A beloved rite of passage, the Rose Ceremony takes place on the first day of Grade One and on the last day of Grade Eight. Rising Grade One students are ushered by their past KG teachers across a bridge, and welcomed into the Grade School by their new teacher. (This year, our Grade One teacher is Mr. Koop!) Each student also meets their "Grade Eight Buddy," who presents t...hem with a rose. The buddy acts as a friend and mentor, and helps the student navigate the first grade. At the end of school year, the reverse occurs, and the graduating Grade Eight students are congratulated and given a rose by their Grade One buddies. Both are moving ceremonies - there were very few pairs of dry eyes at this morning's event. The ceremony looked a little different this year to abide by health and safety protocols, but was beautiful and beloved by families, students and faculty, nonetheless. Welcome to the Grade School, Grade Ones! Thank you to all families, faculty and staff who helped envision and execute this important event.

We couldn't agree more with 1000 Hours Outside's article below. Trillium students learn to assess risk, build resilience and are inspired by exploration with lots of time spent outdoors climbing, jumping, walking/hiking, playing, contemplating and observing. Thanks for sharing, 1000 Hours Outside.

Many Waldorf schools, including Trillium, will be spending more time outdoors this coming school year. With a deep connection to nature and experiential outdoor programming already a part of Trillium's inspiring pedagogy, we are well-positioned to support even more outdoor play and learning. Our faculty, staff, tireless parent volunteers and board continue to work around the clock to fine-tune our back-to-school plan. We are really missing our community and cannot wait to connect again. A million thank yous to all. Association of Waldorf Schools of North America

Congratulations to Pollination Guelph for being awarded the J.R. Dymond Public Service Award by Ontario Nature last week, in recognition of the organization's stewardship of bees and insects via conservation initiatives and the development of new habitats for these important organisms to thrive. Trillium Waldorf School was delighted to be awarded a grant from Pollination Guelph earlier this year. We are looking forward to building our very own bee and insect habitat on our sc...hool grounds for these important pollinators, and also providing an experiential educational resource for our students and the greater community. Stay tuned - we will be posting about the project as it comes to fruition. A message from the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America:

Trillium Waldorf School 06.12.2019

Waldorf Education is deeply rooted in a strong connection to nature. Outdoor play, nature walks and field trips to bio-dynamic farms are a part of Trillium's early childhood and grade school curriculum, and in the later elementary grades, our students enjoy learning outdoor, canoeing and camping skills on trips to some of the most beautiful natural areas in Ontario. Trillium is well-positioned to offer your child(ren) a safe, inspiring return to school in September, with lots... of outdoor time planned. If you're looking for an experiential educational journey for your child that will nurture their social development, strengthen their academic potential through traditional subjects integrated with art and music, and foster a meaningful relationship with nature, reach out for more information.
