Holiday eating tips from our dietitian @healthy_me.l! #Repost @healthy_me.l with @get_repost It certainly looks like December in Toronto today! So it’s a perfect time to start my weekly holiday tips! ... Tip #1: Maintain a regular eating pattern throughout the day, regardless of if there are more treats around, a large festive meal later etc. Eating regularly helps to keep our hunger at bay, prevent over eating & give our bodies the nutrients it needs to stay energized & healthy. It’s recommended to eat every 4-6 hours with a balance of protein, vegetables/fruit & whole grains. Including a holiday treat into this routine now & then is totally fine Stay tuned! Each Tues until Christmas I’ll be providing you with another holiday tip! #dietitiansofinstagram #holidaytips #holidayeating #festiveseason #consistency #balance #halfyourplate

We’re excited to welcome physiotherapist Jennifer Shtulberg to the team! Jen is an experienced therapist who has completed further training in manual therapy, acupuncture, dry needling, soft tissue release, and concussion therapy. Jen strongly believes in the significance of attaining a comprehensive patient history and assessment to ensure a specialized treatment plan is developed with the goal of returning the patient back to their sport, activity or general function. Jen...’s passion for exercise and movement started early, as she grew up playing competitive, national level tennis from the age of 7! Jen loves to stay active through home workouts or playing tennis or volleyball and is an avid baker! She can also speak Russian fluently. She is now treating patients at our Bloor West clinic. Having recently moved to the area, she’s excited to be involved in her new community! Box Breathing A quick and easy relaxation and meditation technique that you can do anywhere. It can help to reduce stress and promote relaxation. It’s actually been scientifically proven to work! It has been shown to regulate your autonomic nervous system which controls involuntary body functions like temperature and blood pressure. ... The slow holding of breath allows carbon dioxide to build up in your blood, stimulating your parasympathetic nervous system. This slows your heart rate and produces a calm relaxed feeling. It’s a simple and effective strategy that can help manage anxiety and pain. Take a minute and try it out!

Teamwork This has been a recurring theme for us lately, with all that has been going on. We’ve seen so many people come together on so many levels to help each other navigate the various issues that we’re facing. Therapists and patients have worked together to move to a virtual care model to continue therapy.... Our clinic staff have come together quickly and diligently to prepare for our reopening, helping to plan our policies and procedures to ensure everyone’s safety. Clinic owners from all across Canada have teamed up to navigate the impact that COVID-19 has had on our patients, staff, and businesses. (some great ones are tagged in this post) Health care professionals from all over the world have come together to speak out on issues of racism and educate each other on how we can be better allies in our personal and professional lives. We’ve never been more proud to be a part of the healthcare industry and hope to continue this teamwork with our staff, patients and colleagues going forward. Look for this in our content going forward as we collaborate with some great leaders in our industry and community!
