Truro Volunteer Fire Brigade 24.02.2021

Footage from last night’s C Platoon / Ward 3 training on the ladder truck. This included reviewing equipment, operation, set up, and a ladder climb. Truro Fire has been conducting this training all week in smaller groups and while respecting Covid protocols. If you see us up in the air give us a wave!

Adopt a fire hydrant in your neighbourhood and keep it clear. Accessible hydrants help us extinguish fires faster and save lives. Seconds can make a difference!

To the citizens and businesses we have protected since 1868 and proudly continue to do so, we want to extend our well wishes for a safe 2021. While 2020 may be technically in the rear view mirror, its impact will not disappear overnight. To expect it to, would be unfair to so many who have suffered so much. But what we can do, is continue to support each other, be kind and keep each other safe. From all of Us to All of You, Here is to a better 2021.

As we have in previous years, we sponsored a local family this Christmas through the Christmas Index Program. With other means of fundraising cut off due to Covid19, our ability to continue this was made possible through the proceeds from the firefighter 50-50 draw. This is one of many community minded initiatives the Brigade Members take pride in doing, over and above our duties in the Truro Fire Service. Another week of delivering food to local community organizations so that they can get it out to those in need this holiday season is complete. For Brigade members, this is something we look forward to every year. Doing this after a crazy year of job losses and hard times makes it even more special. Happy Holidays to all!

Truro Fire members and mutual aid depts rushed away from their thanksgiving dinners yesterday to respond to a structure fire in Millbrook. Despite a hard fight by all involved, the house suffered significant damage. One of the lesser known facts about our fire service is that we proudly provide fire protection and emergency services to the Millbrook First Nation Community.

NEWS FLASH Tonight we reached a milestone of $1,000,000 in sales since we started this venture in May with only 8 departments on board. That is a major milesto...ne and we can now see some of the benefits to the 131 local FD’s as they are reaching some fundraising goals. If you look at the odds this week, only 7400 orders were placed so you have a great chance of winning compared to other draws. Thank you for helping us grow into the biggest weekly 50-50 in Atlantic Canada! See more
