Everyone at Together We Can would like to wish our Executive Director, Stacy Wilson, a Happy 50th Birthday. We thank Stacy for his dedication to the men and women seeking a life in recovery, and no one works harder at ensuring everything runs smoothly. His knowledge of the program of recovery is well practiced, and he shares that with all of the staff and volunteers so that they can be even more welcoming and helpful to the next person coming through our doors. Stacy has made TWC feel like a big, caring family. As a result of his leadership, Together We Can is one big beating heart, filled with compassion, empathy, and understanding. Thank you for dedicating your life to the service of humanity. Here's to another 50 years!

Today the staff and clients want to wish Dave D a heartfelt congratulations on 4 years of sobriety! Triple D, as Dave is affectionately known by all offers the following advice to the newcomer. "Listen to learn and learn to listen. Do what is in front of you. Reach out your not alone. Just stay, then you don't have to come back. If only I heeded these simple words 27 years ago my journey began. " Congratulations Dave!

One of the things we need to learn in recovery is how to have fun sober. We spend so much time in our treatment stay figuring out who we are, how to undo the wreckage of our past, and how to make a life worth living, that an often overlooked part in a personal journey is what we can do to relax and enjoy our newfound sobriety. Today we celebrate William Place on 3 years of recovery! Will has been and continues to be a vital member of the Together We Can family. Starting in intake support, Will would often be the first point of contact for new arrivals, showing them hope, comfort and empathy. Today, Will is working on hard on bettering his life and career by attending school to become an Addictions Counselor! His role with the society is one-on-one case management and group facilitation. Will does ...a fantastic job of giving space to TWC’s residents so they can explore their emotions, mental health and become solution focused. His ability to create a warm, comforting and non-judgemental space is well received by every client that Will works with. As an alumni of TWC, Will carries and expresses a special knowledge and care for the new comers at Together We Can. His personal recovery is based on being a responsible member of the AA fellowship that is always there to help. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, Will! When asked what he would tell someone who is still struggling with addiction, Will said "I would tell someone that there is hope. No matter what someone's situation is, there is hope for change." One of his favorite memories since coming into recovery is competing in the Whistler Iron Man competition. #recoverylife #wedorecover #TWC #TWCAlumni #togetherwecan

A heartfelt congratulations go out to Together We Can alumni Kirk C on his 2 year milestone! We recently asked Kirk what helped him most in his recovery, and he... told us "it is critical for the newcomer to find a responsible member of of AA or NA, to take them through the steps before their disease takes over and tells them they can do it on their own. " "If Mick from TWC had not took me through the steps in my early sobriety. I would not be where I am today, relieved from the obsession of drugs and alcohol." Congratulations Kirk, keep spreading the message of recovery! #wedorecover #recoverylife

Congratulations Andrew! 13 years is an amazing milestone, and when we asked the alumni of our program his secret to longtime success, he told us that for him to... achieve success, he went through the process, did the work, got connected and the most important part to his program of recovery is knowing "I’m not in Charge, I don’t run the show." Congratulations to TWC Alliance Alumni, James A. on 5 years of clean time! James was one of the first residents of the Alliance program back when it started in 2015 and has always been one of our biggest cheerleaders! Since getting clean, James has worked tirelessly to share a message of hope, compassion, love and understanding that has touched the lives of many people both at Alliance and in the recovery community. Prior to COVID, James would be a consistent visitor, a part... of the process groups, volunteered as a support worker, and would welcome each new person with open arms. We are blessed to be a part of your recovery journey, James! (PS: We know who sends the secret pizza deliveries!) When asked what recovery means to him and any advice he has for those who are new, James said Recovery to me is everything today. It’s freedom from self and the ability to help others. My advice is that no matter what you are going through in life/recovery you are worth friends, love and most importantly to live a life without the chaos of addiction. #WeDoRecover #RecoveryLife #TWC #TWCAlliance #Alliance #Love #Compassion #Care #Understanding #Empathy

We're always happy to announce our alumni milestones, and we take great pride in wishing Sophie L. a bright and joyous 1 year sobriety birthday today! Sophie is an alumni of our LGBTQ+ inclusive Alliance program, designed to support those seeking recovery through a trauma-informed care lens. When we asked Sophie to reflect on her journey to recovery, she told us, "Our recovery paths are not always straight and narrow, I know mine sure has not been. No matter how hopeless you feel or how many times you have to come back, never give up on your self or loose hope. Keep coming back no matter what, because your worth it!" Sophie never gave up on achieving sobriety, and Alliance always welcomed her back with open arms and endless support. Congratulations Sophie!
