By the end of the year you turn 71, the law requires you to close your registered retirement savings plan (#RRSP). When doing so, there are 4 main options you can choose from. You can: 1. Take it in cash 2. Purchase an annuity 3. Transfer it into a registered retirement income fund (RRIF)... 4. Some combination of the above Before you decide which way to go it’s best to get all the facts with the help of some expert guidance. Why? Because once you make a decision, it’s very hard to undo it.

Hope you are all doing well. With all the news going on around the world, and stresses in everyone’s lives at this time I wanted to send out an update to help ease your minds around the market ups and downs over the past week. The media is dominated with increasing Covid-19 cases and comments around the US election. These events are important and make good news but they are really just short term events. If you look at things from a longer term perspective the short term ...news doesn’t actually matter as much as you might think. The world will eventually get past this pandemic and the US election will come and go. Financial markets move up and they move down in short periods but over the longer term they always move higher, so don’t stress about the short term events because we know if we are patient things will move higher. Look at what happened earlier this year, the markets got hit by early Covid-19 news but if you just waited a month or two they recovered. I have been through many market ups and downs over my 18yr career and can tell you that staying the course is the best option. I have provided some comments below and also some attached material for you to read which supports my thoughts. Also, please watch the attached video clip from Sadiq Adatia fund manager with SLGI Global Investments. In this economy some parts of the market are finding it hard like travel and leisure but some parts of the economy like technology are benefiting big time. In an economy like this it is important to have expert money managers making the decisions. Each of you has the backing of global money managers leading your investments so you have no need to stress. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. I am available through email or phone so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me and my team. Thanks and stay safe. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca//recommending-a-barbell-strate See more
