Good Morning UC! I hope you’re all having a great New Year! This week’s UC Reads selection is from @malaikamitra who recommends Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende! Here is what @malaikamitra has to say about Daughter of Fortune : There are a lot of reasons that I loved it, but it was mostly because I love adventure novels centered around female protagonists, and this was one of those rare historical novels that did so without making the woman's personal development depe...ndent on her relationships. On the surface, it seems like a romance novel, but it really focuses on character development, and is extremely well researched. It also shows diverse perspectives of the Romantic era from South America and Asia. A great way to kick off the new year is with a good book! If you are also intrigued by female-led adventure novels, check out Daughter of Fortune! Don’t forget to message us your favorite reads to be featured. Have a great week UC! Stay safe and remember to prioritize your mental and physical health!! #ucreads #bookstagram #Daughteroffortune #lovemyuc #IsabelAllende #Campuslife

Good Afternoon UC! This week’s UC Reads selection is from @margyyy124 who recommends The House at Riverton by Kate Morton!! Here are @margyyy124 ‘s thoughts on The House at Riverton: The House at Riverton grabs my attention with only the first few pages and leaves me with lingering feelings for a long time after I finished it. Just as many reviews say, it is truly a page-turner. The story begins with Grace, a 99-year old lady, who was reminiscing the days when she worked... as a maid for the Hartford family at the House of Riverton in the 1920s, where she became a close friend with the elder daughter of the family Hannah Hartford. The story revolves around Hannah’s entire life from Grace’s perspective. It is a touching story that entangles romance, friendship, kinship, and a mysterious death. Check out this accidictive and poignant novel The House at Riverton by Kate Morton and don’t forget to message us your favorite reads to be featured. Have a great week UC! Stay safe and remember to prioritize breaks!! #ucreads #bookstagram #bookcommunity #lovemyuc #katemorton #thehouseatriverton

Good Morning UC! I hope you’re all doing well during this hectic time. This week’s UC Reads selection is from @xfizx who recommends Wonder by R.J Palacio! Here are a few words about Wonder from @xfizx : Wonder is such a beautiful book that focuses on expressing the fact that beauty doesn’t define us a person, but it is rather our actions that do! I remember first reading it when I was young and it’s stuck with me to this day! I feel that even though the main character has... a disability that many do not even know of, the portrayal of his insecurities and fear related to being different resonate with all of us. Most of all, his perseverance and courage is inspiring to say the least! To end I’d like to share my favourite quotation from Wonder, you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out. Check out Wonder by R.J Palacio and get motivated during final season! Don’t forget to message us your favorite reads to be featured. Have a great week UC! Stay safe and remember to prioritize your mental and physical health!! #ucreads #bookstagram #bookcommunity #lovemyuc #rjpalacio #wonder

Good Morning UC and Happy Remembrance Day! This week’s UC Reads selection is from @samiamuqeem who recommends A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara (@hanyayanagihara) Here are @samiamuqeem ‘s thoughts on A Little Life: A little life follows 4 friends as they navigate life with ups and downs throughout many decades. They drift apart and stay together because of their love for their enigmatic 4th friend who's been through terrible trauma. It is a very profound and yet still rela...table story about the bonds of friendship and what it means to be a person. It makes me think about how people change and grow together and apart and how my friends from childhood can still stay with me even if we are miles apart and at different points in our lives. It's also very sad and has some trigger warnings. Check out A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara and don’t forget to message us your favorite reads to be featured! Have a great reading week UC and stay safe! #ucreads #bookstagram #bookcommunity #lovemyuc
