Alumnus and business magnate Mr. Stanley F. Pauley [BSc(EE)/49], who donated more than $11 million to the University of Manitoba’s Price Faculty of Engineering, died November 20, 2020 in Richmond, Virginia, at age 93. Dr. Michael Benarroch, UM president and vice-chancellor said: Even though Mr. Pauley left Winnipeg in 1949, his heart and passion for electrical engineering led him to generously support engineering at his alma mater, UM. Christine Hanlon’s [BA/85, BEd/89] new book, Old Winnipeg: A History in Pictures, was released virtually Oct. 24, shares Winnipeg’s structures last 170-plus years from Upper Fort Garry, which stood until 1882, to the Public Safety Building, which was demolished this year.
