There's still a ton of unclaimed money owned by Canadians and their families that has been lost ! Please share this information with your friends and family ! Every year the pot grows when more funds that have been dormant for 10 years get added to the database. If you have relatives who passed away more than 10 years you can search for their names to see If anything was missed in their estates that has now been deemed unclaimed !

Just helped a Rotary club in Langley BC recover over $2300 from an unclaimed bank account which they can now put towards one of the charities they support! Now that feels good :)
I just found about more Canadian unclaimed money related to companies who didn't get paid when someone who OWED them money claimed bankruptcy and their assets were put into trust with a Trustee in Bankruptcy ...amazing but there are currently 89,045 records in the database with total amount of unclaimed funds of $16,245,185. The largest single amount of an unclaimed fund is $179,636. Unclaimed funds in THIS database also called dividends represent money collected for cred...itors by trustees during a bankruptcy that, because the creditor cannot be located, has not been distributed. By law, these funds must be turned over to the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and held in trust until the rightful creditor (person or business owed the money) comes forward to make a claim. To be eligible to receive a dividend in a bankruptcy or a proposal, you must file a Proof of Claim with the trustee. Your first point of contact is the trustee, who can find out if your Proof of Claim has been accepted and if dividends have been distributed to creditors. http://www.ic.gc.ca/cgi-bin/sc_mrksv/bnkrptcy/ud/ud_srch.pl
You can search for lost unclaimed bank accounts using this link: http://ucbswww.bank-banque-canada.ca/scr/search_english.cfm Usually there is a CLAIM form link associated with the Balance and you fill in the details and print it out and take to the bank that was holding the balance for verification.... If you find a bank balance and want to know how to claim it, here's some more information on what steps you might have to take. http://www.bankofcanada.ca/unclaimed-balances/how-to-claim/
In 2011, the Bank of Canada repaid $15.8 million to account holders who recovered the money from their lost accounts. In addition, the total dollar value of outstanding bank accounts grew from $433 million to $465 million in 2011, an additional $32,000,000 dollars of lost funds were sent to the Bank of Canada in trust from more dormant bank accounts.
