FR/EN De 2015 à 2020, le programme Uniterra a permis d’améliorer le bien-être économique et social des populations les plus pauvres et marginalisées dans 14 pays d’Afrique, d’Asie et des Amériques. Par le biais de ce programme, plus de 2000 volontaires ont partagé leur expertise, leurs connaissances et leur savoir-faire, et ainsi renforcé les capacités d’acteurs locaux, afin d’augmenter les opportunités d’emplois et de favoriser l’entrepreneuriat pour les femmes et les jeunes.... Ce programme était mis en oeuvre par le CECI et l’EUMC, avec l’appui financier du gouvernement du Canada, par l’entremise d’Affaires mondiales Canada. Through this program, more than 2,000 volunteers have shared their expertise, knowledge and know-how to help build the capacities of local actors, leading to the creation of job opportunities and encouraging entrepreneurship among women and youth. The Uniterra Program was implemented by WUSC and CECI, with financial support from the Government of Canada, through Global Affairs Canada. It has been a privilege for WUSC Tanzania to be able to work with the amazing volunteers and local partner organizations’ staff and beneficiaries through the Un...iterra program. Over the last five years, we've hosted 253 volunteers who were placed with local partners in the tourism and fruits and vegetable sub-sectors as well as with youth and women organizations. These volunteers directly trained 2,766 beneficiaries and created 750 tools (guides, policies, templates and processes) for our local partner organizations. We saw policies be made and then go into practice, we witnessed leadership and business trainings as well as shifts in organizational inclusion for youth and women. Our capacity assessments saw that our partners have increased their numbers of beneficiaries - particularly women beneficiaries - by more than 70 per cent. Our program highlights include hosting the 2016 International Seminar, the G.C.I.U.S. irrigation canal rehab with Mviwata Manyara, Communication for Scale with Farm Radio International - Radios Rurales Internationales, Tanzania Tourist Board’s Cultural Tourism Enterprise capacity building, and our two pilot interventions - a Tour Guide certification framework and training with College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka (CAWM, Mweka) and linkage facilitation for SUGECO Tanzania and Mtandao wa Vikundi vya Wakulima Tanzania (MVIWATA) drip irrigation project. As of March 31, the #Uniterra program has officially ended. Thank you to every single person who has joined us in the last five years of collaboration and partnership.
