No Laughing matter As we face this lockdown together, let's not forget the quiet impact it is having on each of us. It comes in the form of less sleep, increased irritability and alcohol/drug consumption for example. So far this pandemic has caused a 16% drop in Canada’s mental health (a measure of change reflecting anxiety, depression, work productivity, optimism, isolation, financial risk, and psychological health), according to Morneau Shepell’s Mental Health Index (base...d on data collected March 27-30). The takeaway: Don't become isolated, make an effort to reach out & have a meaningful conversation with someone everyday. Stick to your routines and avoid oversleeping and staying up too late. Adopt an 'everything in moderation' approach. Self-monitor your activities and consumption and if you over do it one day, take it easy the next. Healthy You, Healthy us! The healthier you are, the better you will be able to start up once things return to normal. Also, the healthier you are, the better you can in turn help someone in need. Together, we can do this!
