The end of a semester is always a stressful time, so it is important to remember to take breaks. Even more important this year, when the line between home life ...and work/school life has faded, or even disappeared. So we wanted to help encourage breaks by presenting some fun colouring pages created from materials held in the University Archives and Special Collections. You can save the images to your computer, then either print them out and colour them the traditional way with your favourite crayons, markers, etc. or open them up in Paint or a similar program and colour them there! When you are done, we would love to see your finished artwork! You can share it will us on social media by using the hash tag #ColourWithUASC and tagging @usask_uasc on Facebook and Twitter, and @usasklibrary on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Most of our images come from our Rare Book collection but we also have a page from one of our Greystone year books and from our University Photograph Collection. You can find them on our website. Happy colouring! https://library.usask.ca//ne/2020/UASC-colouring-pages.php

In honour of Remembrance Day tomorrow, we are highlighting the WWII diaries from in our Saskatoon Light Infantry fonds (MG 225). They consist primarily of copie...s of WWII diaries maintained by the Saskatoon Light Infantry, January 1940 to December 1944. The diaries generally include a summary of events and information for each day of the month; battalion orders part I relating to movement orders, security, protocol, etc.; part II orders listing names of regiment members under a number of different headings (strength increase/decrease, leaves, honours and awards, etc.); and field returns of officers. There is a searchable name index available here: http://digital.scaa.sk.ca/gallery/sli/search.php. While it does not contain digitized copies of the war diaries it does provide reference points for our staff to be able to retrieve copies for you. Please note: Access to the diaries, which includes personal information, is subject to the provisions of federal privacy legislation. Copies of diaries provided to researchers will be vetted as needed, in order to comply with privacy legislation.
