VCA Canada family members Green Acres Animal Hospital led a community wide initiative to collect donations for the Lethbridge food bank. Together with clients and other veterinary clinics in the area, the Green Acres team raised a ‘mountain’ of food for those in-need in their community. Nice work Green Acres! #VCAFamily
BIG day for Sam! If you've been following along with our stories, you'll know that Sam the Lamb went to Vancouver today to see a specialist at VCA Canada Vancou...ver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre With plenty of time to fill up before the appointment, Andrew felt like it was a rare opportunity for Sam to see the ocean, so they took a little detour and Sam had a walk in West Vancouver. Overall, Sam was pretty unimpressed.... Turns out "ocean" doesn't involve food, which is Sam's true passion. More importantly, we got some AMAZING results! As it turns out Sam's cataracts are what's known as "Nuclear Cataracts" meaning they're in the centers of his eyes. He has about 80% of his vision around them though, and really only struggles in bright light. As a result, with some new drops, he should (quite literally) see an improvement, and these cataracts aren't expected to get worse - what this means is that Sam will *not* have to fly to Saskatchewan for a very expensive and potentially risky surgery!! We are thrilled to have such a great outcome from this trip, and so grateful to all the incredible folks at the clinic and also to SPCA International who provided us with a generous grant, part of which was used to help cover today's costs.
