Notice to all community members.. We recognize that this is a difficult time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the decision to send your child(ren) to school is not easy. Each family should assess their own individual situation especially if your child(ren), family and household members are at higher risk for serious outcomes due to the COVID-19 virus . You may also want to consider your child’s health condition, their learning needs, your family’s ability to find childcare an...d resources to assist in providing home schooling. Each family should choose what is best for them. Keeping COVID-19 transmission low in the community is important to help prevent the introduction of the virus into schools. The primary goal is to make reopening of schools as safe as possible. We are asking parents and caregivers to assist us wherever possible. If travelling out of the community please follow all Covid-19 precautionary measures such as wearing masks, hand sanitizing, paying attention to areas where Covid-19 is present. If we all do our part in keeping it out of the community, it would greatly benefit the school program as well. If your children, have Covid symptoms we ask that you monitor your child at home. If you need more assistance please contact 811 and they will direct you as to what needs to be done next. We also ask that you contact the school if your child is staying home from such symptoms. September 21, 2020 Good Morning Parents and Guardians; School Transfers to Edcentre or to Valley View School from Ed Centre. ... We understand that many parents are getting a bit frustrated in regards to Edcentre. Parents please be understanding that K-9 online is new to the school division. Edcentre in La Ronge is processing forms and contacting parents as fast as they can. The process for intake is longer as they have two staff members who are processing all K-9 students within the whole division. They are also contacting our school to make sure that work packages and all materials are being prepared and available for your child to begin. Valley View School is also having transfer issues. Once parents have indicated that they are beginning their children online they are now the responsibility of Edcentre after Valley View School has transferred them out. The process to transfer back and forth takes time and a backlog is occurring between both schools. Parents you may have to wait a week or longer to transfer your child back to Valley View School. Once we get verification that your child is returning our staff needs to prepare for your child's re-entry back into our school. Re-entry means preparing the classroom in which your child will be in, preparing text books, cubbies, space in the classroom, getting child on the bus, lunch and snack program numbers, having discussions with parents in regards to possible exposure to Covid, etc. The safety of your child, students and staff is of the utmost importance. We ask that parents consider the program options and weigh them out carefully. The next intake to Edcentre is October 5th, 2020. Valley View School will take names and then transfer them out after that date. If you have any questions please contact Gail Gardiner or Alvina Aubichon in regards to Edcentre.

General Reminders to Parents For the most part, back to school has been running smoothly. We have had some glitches and this is because this Pandemic has changed many of our regular routines. As a school team we are in discussion as to how things can run smoothly and efficiently. We understand that as parents you do have frustrations, fears and uncertainties. This is also true for our school team. If you have any questions please forward them to Gail or Arlene. We ask ...Continue reading

High School students were not sorted into cohorts. This is an oversight on our part. We had close to 30 HS students registered on Friday. We will sort this out in the morning. We completed the Kindergarten to Grade 9 cohorts. Most HS students will be following their younger siblings (K-9) into their cohort groups. If they do not have siblings they will be placed in groups. We will get the numbers in each group as equal as possible. ... Cole Bay is Cohort A Jans Bay is Cohort B All high school students can gather in the gym tomorrow morning at 9 am. As the school year continues things will change and adjust. Communication between home and school will be important. If you have any questions, please contact school administrators as soon as possible. Many questions asked on the School Facebook page may not be answered in timely fashion. Thank you to all parents for your patients and understanding. We thank you for your support and we truly appreciate it.

Valley View Community School 25.05.2020

Just a reminder once again: If you have not registered your child yet. They may not enter the school until you have verified their cohort group A or B. We are splitting every class into two groups.... They have alternative days for coming to school. If you need to register or talk with someone this will be done in the gym tomorrow morning. Alvina Aubichon and Tara Carter will be available in this space. To enter the gym, you must use the side door. We ask that no one parks on the side entrance as this is used for Bus wheel chair accessibility.

Valley View Community School 16.05.2020

Reminder: students will have different entrance areas. This is happening because we need to slow the amount of people that gather in an entry point. This will also assist our staff by ensuring that every student has hand sanitized and wearing masks at entrance.

K-12 Parents In order for your child to be attending school next week, we need them registered as soon as possible. The forms are available at the school gym. Please use side entrance. Alvina is available for K -9. Tara is available for High School Registration. Registered students need to be verified by 3:00pm today. The reason is that you will know which days your child comes to school. So once again come to the school and get your child into their cohort group immediately so they know which days they will be going to school.

Tansi/Hello Parents and High School Students...this is a follow up for today's registration. We didn't get as many high school students registered as we hoped. We are asking that registration needs to be done as soon as possible on the following times. Friday, September 4 from 9:30-11:30 Tuesday, September 8 from 9 -11:30 The school year is divided into 4 quads (Quadmesters). A quad is like a semester in a regular high school, only it is approximately 9 weeks in length. Fu...ll time students take a minimum of two credits per quad. They will take one quad class in am and another in the pm. Each class will be 2 hours and 15 minutes in length. Quad Class an example Science 10 Day 1 - 2 hours and 15 minutes DAY 2 - 2 hours and 15 minutes For two days of classes it equals 4 hours and 30 minutes. Absenteeism will not help a student. Cohorts All high school students will be placed into cohort A and B for each class they take. In Science 10 the students that register will be split in half. Half will come Monday and Tuesday. The other half will come Thursday and Friday. Each cohort will have three days of remote learning at home. Students will need to register in the gym during the above posted signs. They will not be able to enter the school until registered in their courses. The safety practices and procedures during the Covid-19 are very important. Students at Valley View School will be required to wear masks where distancing is not possible. Which means that when in the hallways masks must be worn. Valley View School will have disposable masks but parents are encouraged to supply cloth masks for their child as well.

September 2, 2020 Note from Administration. Good Day Parents and Families; ... This note is a follow up for your information. Over the last couple of days staff have been contacting parents in regards to what your plans are in regards to your child's 2020-2021 Educational Plan. The contact list was taken from Powerschool from June 2020. Those students who were registered in June 2020 were used to create our current years class list. If your child was not registered at that time they will be considered new students to our Powerschool system for the fall. You will need to fill out forms if you decide that your child will be going into the Cohort System at Valley View View. The cohort system is where students are placed into two groups A and B and they will have designated days as to when they will be in school. Valley View School will be responsible for your child if they are placed into the cohort system. This co-hort system will also place most siblings/families into the same groups. If an outbreak occurs contact tracing will easily assist Public Health. If you decide to register your children online with K - Grade 9 Edcentre in La Ronge, we ask that you place your child on the transfer list to Edcentre. Valley View School will create that transfer list here and then we will transfer and fax this out to La Ronge by Friday. For this transfer we will need your child's name, contact number and grade. A Note from Valley View School Administration in Regards to Covid School Covid procedures will be flexible in responding to new information, and school administrators will be willing to refine approaches when specific procedures are not working. ... It is critically important to develop strategies that can be revised and adapted depending on the level of viral transmission in the school and throughout the community and done with close communication with Beauval Emergency Operations Committee, local public health authorities and Northern Lights School Division. School procedures should be practical, feasible, and appropriate for a student’s developmental stage. Special considerations and accommodations will be deemed appropriate for the diversity of students especially for our vulnerable populations, including those who are medically fragile, have developmental challenges, or have special health care needs or disabilities, with the goal of safe return to school. Valley View School will use a Risk Mitigation model in which it will take steps to reduce the negative effects of any type of risks to our school during the Covid-19 Pandemic. With this model parents, staff, and community will ensure that clear communication occurs, and all procedures are therefore taken seriously for the safety of our community.
