Vancouver Temple- Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 18.10.2020

Recently, a dear friend reached out with an invitation to participate in a temple endowment session for a young missionary. I, like so many of you, have missed ...attending the temple, and I was so grateful and happy to receive that kind invitation. We attended the Logan Utah Temple on a beautiful summer day. I was overwhelmed by the immediate peace I felt entering the temple again after so many months. How I have missed it. It felt like coming home. I thought being there might temporarily satisfy my hunger for the work, but it actually intensified my desire to return to regular temple service where we [feed] upon infinity (William Wordsworth, The Climbing of Snowdon, from the 1805 Prelude, 70). It felt so wonderful. What a privilege and blessing it is to be able to assist in the great work that blesses both the living and those who have died. I’m sure we all feel the increased appreciation for temples since they have been closed. This young missionary had already been enjoying his virtual missionary training center experience at home, and it was tender observing him and his dear family in the temple. I couldn’t help but think about the seeds that had been planted and nurtured in his life to prepare him for that special day. That is what I wish for all children as they prepare to make and keep sacred covenants. I felt Heavenly Father’s love in His house. I thank Him for that gift. I felt His gracious welcome, his love and forgiveness, and the power of the priesthood of God through the covenants and ordinances of the temple. Even though we cannot yet attend the temple as often as we might like, we can still feel close to Heavenly Father and serve others for Him. We can still feel His love, forgiveness, and power as we humbly prepare to hear Him in general conference. I can hardly wait.

Although our access to the temple right now is limited, it doesn’t change the impact that the temple can have on us in our lives. Through our covenants and ordi...nances, we have access to the power of Godliness in our livesno matter our circumstances. That power of Godliness comes because we've entered into a covenant that's been part of an ordinance. And as we keep that covenant, the power of Godliness can be in our lives. Until our temples fully reopen, I pray that we can keep our covenants, and by doing so, access the power of Godliness in our everyday lives. When the day comes for us to attend the temple again, our hearts and our spirits will be hungry for the experiences of the temple. That desire, that hunger, will result in a powerful temple experience. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org//how-we-can-acces

Watch as President Russell M. Nelson shares a message of comfort and caution as the Church looks forward amid the COVID-19 pandemic. I love you, dear brothers and sisters, and assure you that wonderful days are ahead.

During this unique time when the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has claimed thousands of lives, crippled the world economy, and isolated world populations, operati...ons have been suspended in the temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Despite the temporary closure of temples, we have a choice opportunity to invite the covenants and ordinances of the temple to pass through us. The lessons learned in our previous temple experiences are not recalled only when we are in the temple. They are in our minds, and hopefully in our hearts. And we can have access to those learnings and those memories anytime. While the prayers we offer in temples are powerful, we should recognize that the Lord is still aware of our circumstances and our situations at home. He will not give any less credence to an earnest, sincere prayer offered in a family room or kneeling at the side of a bed for this period of time. He will look on us with great mercy and compassion. With the eternal perspective that the restored gospel provides and the grace that comes from the Savior’s Atonement, we can learn lessons from the adversity of mortality that prepare us for the blessings of eternity. We have to pray. We have to seek. We have to ask. We have to have eyes to see and ears to hear. But we can be blessed in remarkable ways to learn lessons that will bless us now and forever.
