Raise your hand if you miss making music with others? While we can't meet regularly for rehearsals these days, our Sarabande choir was fortunate enough to join with the City of Vancouver - Local Government for the annual Remembrance Day ceremony. We were socially distanced, at a separate location, wearing masks, but we got to sing together. The wartime melody, "We'll Meet Again," take on fresh meaning in our current socially distant world. "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day." Until a sunnier day when we can all sing together again! #yvrmusic #vanbachchoirs #vanchoir #yvrsing
Our choirs have been involved in the Lights of Hope for several years and we were delighted to be able to contribute this year to their virtual celebration. You can catch it tomorrow at 6pm on their site!
What a wonderful weekend, with wonderful musicians, and a wonderful project.
ICYMI - our Sarabande choir was part of the annual City of Vancouver - Local Government ceremony once again this year. Although things looked a little different, the meaning and impact was the same. You can hear the choir at the 11 and 46 minute mark. Vancouver Bach Children's Chorus and Youth Choirs
Our choirs will be part of two separate Remebrance Day events this year. You can catch our Sarabande Choir on GlobalTV for the City of Vancouver official ceremony. Our adult choir was fortunate to work with Little Chamber Music on WW75 - a project focused on the forgotten stories of 75 enlisted women. You can view this piece and the full Mountain View Cemetery event at the link below starting at 10:45 tomorrow.
You might notice City Hall, Burrard Bridge or Queen Elizabeth Theatre lit up in red tonight in support of live event workers throughout Canada, and the arts and culture sector.
We're looking forward to honouring Remembrance Day with a couple performances in the coming days! You can catch the adult choir at pop up performances this weekend, or online Nov 11th, with Little Chamber Music for WW75.
Our latest talkBach is live to read over on our website. This week we chatted with VBCC Music Director Marisa Gaetanne about her early years in music and her many inspirations.

Thanks to the BC Choral Federation (BCCF) for hosting these great town halls over the past few weeks. Catch our Executive Director, Nina Horvath, on the next panel focused on organizational and financial management in COVID-19 times. Free to attend but space is limited!
A great resource for choral organizations. We've got more listening to do!
talkBach this week is all about our fabulous pianist Stephen Smith! He's selected a few favourite pieces and provided his own recollections of each. Check it out at http://ow.ly/9xKb50zZlNQ
One small step in allyship we can take right away is to highlight and learn more about the amazing voices of BIPOC artists and composers. Check out the playlist we've put together of choral music by BIPOC composers. Many of these artists are still living, so you can continue to support them by listening and exploring even more of their music.
We're excited to join @Muzewest on Tuesday, June 9 for a conversation with several of Canada's leading choral conductors, including our music director, Leslie Dala. You can find all the info at http://ow.ly/PTyo50zZfpM
