Today is #TransgenderDayOfRememberence, a day to honor and mourn the trans lives that have been lost throughout the year. Violence against trans and gender-diverse folks is steadily increasing, particularly against trans women and femmes of color. In honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance, Human Rights Campaign will be running an online event that features trans speakers to listen to and learn from, starting from 8AM PST. It's important to listen to, learn from and amplify the voices of trans folks always, but especially on Trans Day of Remembrance. We want to wish each and every one of you a happy Coming Out Day, and to let you know that no matter what stage of "coming out" you are at, your identity is valid! To all the folks who are proudly out, who have not yet come out, and who are still figuring things out - this day is for you! This Friday, November 20th, a march and memorial hosted by CATA will be held in in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). This day acts as a time to mourn, remember, and raise awareness for the many trans lives that have been lost, in particular trans women of color and sex workers. TDOR is a heavy day for many trans folks in our community. It is crucial to show up for trans folks each and every day of the year, stand in solidarity and take action. If you are not sh...owing any symptoms of COVID-19 and feel safe doing so, we urge you to attend the memorial and/or march. Today is #IntersexAwarnessDay! So often, intersex people are left out of conversations about LGBTQAi2S+ identities, and it's up to intersex allies to change that dialogue. This article is a great place to start, but we need to be putting in the work every day of the year! Happy #IntersexAwarnesssDay to all the beautiful intersex folks out there.

#QueerHistoryMonth is almost over, but learning about queer history doesn't have to be! Meet Glenn Tkach, tour guide of the "Really Gay History Tour." Occurring every Sunday, this walking tour will teach you everything you want to know about the queer history of Vancouver, and the resistance that lies within these historical sites. In light of #InternationalPronounsDay yesterday, we are sharing this great article that can be used as a guide for someone who may need some help learning about the importance of pronouns, and how to correctly use them. Pronouns are not a preference, they are a requirement. While it may take time to get used to using different pronouns for someone, especially if you've known them for a long time, doing so will help create a welcoming, safe and validating environment for them to exist in. VPS will be having its AGM on the evening of December 10. The official notice to members will be provided a few weeks in advance with further details. Important Details: Members need to be have been a member for at least 30 days to vote at the AGM and need to take out a membership by November 10... Board positions that will be up for elections include - 2 co-chairs (3 year terms), 1 treasurer, 1 secretary and 4 directors at large positions (other positions 2 year terms) Anyone interested in running for a board position must be a member for at least 60 days and need to take out a membership by October 11. Anyone interested in running for a board position must submit their Nomination Form by November 19 when the VPS Nominations Committee will meet. On July 27th, we kicked #VanVirtualPride week off with a bang by raising the rainbow and trans flags at City Hall. On that day, wee had seven lovely couples tie the knot, and we were so happy to be a part of it! Vancouver Pride provided everything for each micro wedding, including a toast to the happy couple courtesy SoCIAL LITE Vodka.
