Having partnered with John Norquay Elementary School for over 20 years, Rotarian Phil Webber presents a cheque to Tim Krug, Principal of Norquay, on December 10, 2020 in order to cover the cost of ten iPads required for remote learning in times of Covid.
Say hello to some members of our Rotary family - Rotary Club of Vancouver, Vancouver Young Professionals Rotaract Club, and Rotaract Club of Vancouver-UBC! We got together to connect, share a meal, and brainstorm our next joint project taking place in March. Stay tuned! #bighearts #peopleofaction #rotary5040 #rotaract5040
Our club featured Captain William Annand, Second in Command, Headquarters Company, of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, for our Remembrance Day meeting today. He shared with us how the Canadian Armed Forces have served at home and abroad, including recent deployments. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Canadian Liberation of the Netherlands. To mark this momentous occasion, you may enjoy watching this documentary 75 Years Later: The Sounds of Freedom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYyvyDrdD64
Rotary Club of Vancouver Stay-At-Home Bike-A-Thon 2020 Although the annual Rotary Bike-A-Thon was canceled because of the COVID pandemic, a Stay-At-Home event was planned to raise money for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in BC. Thanks to the efforts of 18 dedicated former riders, many of whom conducted their own ride this year, and the generosity of over 250 donors, we raised $53, 285! An unqualified success story during a trying time! The Gears for Ears team raised $19,070 ...and are this year’s winner of the Bike-A-Thon TEAM TROPHY. An honorable mention goes to The Chain Reaction team who raised $12,890. Individually, Brian Westerberg raised $14,280 and is this year’s winner of the Don Waters' Special Achievement Award. A hearty thank you and congratulations to everyone for your participation and commitment to making this year’s ride a success.
