Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been experiencing lots of stress and anxiety. I’ve also been experiencing lots of joy and excitement being around family and friends and enjoying life. . My stress was mainly a result of all the what ifs my brain could conjure up and then perceive as threats or problems. At times it was small things like oh my god winter is coming and I need all these socks but I don’t want to own so many socks!! And of course the big real life stress...ors and living through a pandemic to top it off. So I took a step back to cope, heal, energize and rejuvenate...for my hormones . To be continued . . . . . #hormonalhealth #hormonebalance #periodhealth #womensupportingwomen #blackhealth #menstrualhealth #blacknutritionist #torontowomen #minorityhealth #menstrualcycle #blackfitnesswomen #blackgirlmagic #naturalhairwomen #naturalhairqueens #indigenouswomen #caribbeanwomen #indigenouswomen #africanwomen #melaninwoman #miamiwomen #stomachissues #melaninqueen #torontowomen #africanamericans #blackfitnessqueens #atlantahealth #hormoneimbalance #africanamericanwomen #blackwomanhood #blackwomenshealth See more

Balancing our hormones and moving towards health means being aware of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) that cause havoc in our body even long after we have been exposed to them . EDCs are man- made products that interfere with the natural function of our endocrine system . They can cause reproductive, neurological, developmental problems... . These disruptors interfere with your endocrine system in a number of ways. They mimic hormones as well as cause over-responses to stimuli, causing inappropriate timed responses, they block real hormones from attaching to receptors and can cause an overproduction or underproductions of hormones. . These disruptors are found almost everywhere nowadays; in plastic bottles, furniture, clothes, food, food cans, cosmetics, detergent, drugs, toys, water, air. You name it; it’s probably on the list! . To support our hormones and overall health we need to start reducing our toxic load. Good ways to do this is swapping household cleaning products, dish detergent, body soap, plastics, canned food. . What’s a swap you have made or want to make? Tell me below, lets chat! . . . . . #hormonehealth #hormonebalance #periodhealth #womensupportingwomen #blackhealth #menstrualhealth #menstrualcycle #blackwomenshealth #atlwomen #barbadoshealth #ukwomen #minorityhealth #blackgirlsrock #246 #blackfitnesswomen #blackgirlmagic #naturalhairwomen #naturalhairqueens #africanwomen #melaninwoman #melaninqueen #torontowomen #africanamericans #blackfitnessqueens #blackatlanta #hormoneimbalance #africanamericanwomen See more

What happens in your gut is directly related to your mental heath and hormone health. . The gut bacteria known as estrobolome is what metabolizes estrogen if any gut imbalances exist this process can be disrupted . 90% of serotonin (feel good hormone) is made in the gut of there’s imbalance in the gut feelings such as depression and anxiety and mood disorders... . Thus hormone health can never be addressed without looking at gut health . Poor diet, chronic stress, antibiotics, NSAIDS, and poor sleep all can lead to imbalances in the gut . Thus when healing our hormones we always start with healing gut . Start add foods to your diet which work to heal the gut include leafy greens, garlic, onions, dandelion greens, pickled vegetables, miso, kombucha, water and high fiber foods while removing foods that compromise it such as refined sugar, processed foods, fried foods and fast foods . . . . . #nutritionist #onlinenutritionist #guthealth #digestiveissues #blackgirlmagic #ibs #crohns #leakygut #lifestylechangenotadiet #blacknutritionist #loseweightnaturally #onlinenutrition #nutritionhelp #carib #islandfood #africanfood #asianfood #eatingthecarribean #healthyrecipe #islandfood #blackhealth #caribbeancanadian #blackhealthmatters #hormoneimbalances #healthymealplans #eatinghealthy #healthyeating #healthyfood #healthycooking #naturallybeautiful See more

There are a variety of supplements that can play a role in helping with fibroids. I compiled a list of supplements including some which are regular mentioned for uterine fibroids and some that are not as commonly mentioned . Iron- Heavy periods caused by fibroids can lead to anemia. It is estimated 19% of African American women are anemic. Choose a liquid for of iron due to increase absorbency (bio-availability) . Vitamin A- Helps wit tissue repair, immune function and can... help with anemia when taken along with iron . Shiitake or Maitake extract- Supports overall immune health and has properties shown to inhibit tumor growth Vitamin D- Research shows that Vitamin D may work to inhibit tumor growth . Zinc (plus Copper)- Zinc promotes a healthy immune system. It works against hormonal imbalances and fibroid conditions and symptoms.it plays a role in hormone production by increasing progesterone and lowering estrogen. Black women buy and use more beauty products than any other demographic-EWG . 1 in 8 of 82,000 ingredients used in personal care products are industrial chemicals including carcinogens, pesticides, reproductive toxins and hormone disruptors- David Suzuki . Compared with white women, women of color have higher levels of beauty productrelated environmental chemicals in their bodies, independent of socioeconomic status- the American Journal of of Obstetrics & Gynecology... . Health effects include infertility and the reproductive complications, poor immunity, allergies, gut issues, neurological conditions, organ damage, sluggish organs . Studies by EWG concluded that there are less products without toxic ingredients available to black women . Reducing toxins is something we have to start to get serious about when it comes to improving not only hormone health but our overall health . . . . . #toxinsout #bipoc #blackhairproducts #naturalproducts #veganproducts #melaninpoppin #melaninpoppin #hormonalhealth #hormonebalance #periodhealth #womensupportingwomen #blackhealth #blacknutritionist #torontowomen #naturalhairwomen #naturalhairqueens #indigenouswomen #caribbeanamerican #indigenouswomen #africanwomen #melaninwoman #melaninqueen #torontowomen #africanamericans #atlantahealth #hormoneimbalance #africanamericanwomen #blackwomenshealth See more

When I became a pilates instructor I never felt like it was a space that was not for me. Perhaps this is from a lifetime of always being a minority in spaces I frequent. I never felt uncomfortable. I taught to rooms of predominately white women, and always felt welcomed, even as a member I still felt welcomed. But my experience is not the experience of many women of colour . As I spoke to black women outside of work about my profession I quickly learned; unlike myself, many... felt they did not belong. Many felt that they wanted to try it but felt awkward or uncomfortable as a minority and a newbie to pilates and many straight up felt that it wasn’t for black people. . For all those who feel like this I want to tell you health is for you. Holistic health is for you. Physical health is for you. Mental health is for you. Mindful eating is for you. Caring and prioritizing your wellbeing is for you. It’s always been for you . Have you, family and friends, strangers ever made you feel unwanted, uncomfortable, unsure of your wellness choices? Lets discuss share your story below...so we begin to normalize health and wellness for all women . . . . #hormonalhealth #hormonehealth #periodhealth #minoritymentalhealth #womensupportingwomen #blackhealth #menstrualhealth #torontopilates #blacknutritionist #minorityhealth #torontoyoga #blackfitnesswomen #blackgirlmagic #naturalhairqueens #caribbeanamerican #africanwomen #torontowomen #africanamericans #blackfitnessqueens #periodpositive #hormoneimbalance #africanamericanwomen #blackwomanhood #blackwomenshealth See more

PROCESSED MEAT-depending o what country you are in hormones are found in processed meat which can alter the natural balance of hormones in our body. Animal protein; especially red meat can be particularly difficult for the body to digest and for the liver to process, which is are main organ of elimination . REFINED SUGAR AND CARBS- Foods such as white sugar, white bread, white rice, pasta, refined pastries can cause weight gain and increase estrogen levels which can lead to ...a growth in fibroid sizes . CAFFEINE- Caffeine can put stress on your liver, adrenals and pancreas, sending your hormones out of balance . ALCOHOL- Alcohol can lead to a compromised immune system as well as create inflammation in the body . DAIRY PRODUCTS-depending on what country you are in hormones and antibiotics are found in dairy products. Cows are also fed GMO crops. All can through off your hormone balance . Other foods that should be removed include soy, sodium (reduce intake), artificial sweeteners, sugary drinks, trans-fat. These foods can disrupt your endocrine system, tax your liver and create dysbiosis in your gut. All three are very important in balancing hormones; to help reduce the size of fibroids and the symptoms. .
