new step on my Ham Radio way! Portable step! :) My apartment in St. Petersburg is located in a 25-floor building, where the QRM level is + 25 db. And the OH73EL...K Shack is not available for me now and for many months in the future. What is the solution? QRV/portable in Russia! In this video, I talk about the first such a test fom the forest "Shack" located 50 km from St. Petersburg and 100 meters from the coast of the Gulf of Finland. The weather is still cold, and the equipment is not yet ready and tuned. So, this is only the first attempt. There are many plans ahead! My equipment: LiFeFo batteries in a elegantly box with a voltmeter (thanks to one of my Ham friends Alexey RA1AMO). ANT: Firstly I tried the OCF dipole (also called Windom?) for 20/40 m (13.8 m + 6.9 m) with BALUN 1/4. It seems to be a very moody antenna! Any slight change in the height of its suspension and angle dramatically changes its characteristics. In addition, it worked normally in one place and completely did not work in another ... (maybe because of ground also...). Then I tried Trap-Inv.V 20/40. Even at a low suspension height (6 m), this antenna worked much better and the SWR on both bands in the SSB sector was less than 1.5 ! I could make QSOs with Europe stations and even 4Z75V. In addition, I was also testing GP, which I will talk about later. A special small switch box (to be seen in the video) helped to compare all antennas (again tnx to RA1AMO). I hope that I will be able to go on Air from interesting places soon and tell you about it in my videos here and on my Channel. Maybe not all plans will work out quickly and soon. But I will go step by step. I look forward to questions in the comments and new ideas about working /portable! See more
