It’s not too late! There are still a few BBQ raffle ticket books left for curlers to pick up from Danielle (780-581-5420) or the Chamber office. Please consider picking up a book to sell to family and friends virtually this year. Thank you to everyone who has already supported the club by buying a ticket (or four) and sold a book (or two). We could not be happier with the response once the first Facebook post went up. The community spirit lives on at home in Vermilion.

And just like that....our leagues are done until after Christmas. With 10 cases in the County of Vermilion River and more than 50 cases per 100 000 people, all team sports are canceled until December 18. This essentially gets us to Christmas when we would normally have two weeks off anyway. Stay safe everyone.

We’ve been taking some questions about curlers from enhanced zones coming to Vermilion to curl. The picture below came from a Curling Alberta FAQ sheet this past weekend. I would like to take a minute to recognize how awesome Curling Alberta has been to work with through this pandemic. They have shown great leadership and careful following of guidelines while still encouraging the sport of curling to continue. They have been a steady source of reliable information and have respond to questions day or night in a timely fashion. We are very grateful.

Raffle time! Get ready for BBQ season by purchasing a raffle ticket to win this great BBQ donated by the County of Vermilion River Natural Gas Utility! Tickets were being handed out not long before covid shut us down. With a night to sleep on it and lots of discussion about what the announcement from the province means, VCC leagues will continue to run with the current covid guidelines in place. It was the right decision to stop play to give the covid committee time to discuss the restrictions, but we are excited to be able to move forward with men’s night tonight and Superleague tomorrow night. The virus is still with us. Please ensure you are distancing from all other players on the ice, check in with the health check questionnaire, and wash your hands. 6 people max to a table in the lounge, and it is recommended you sit with people from your household.

Good evening curlers. We have taken a lot of questions tonight regarding curling. As of this moment, VCC has cancelled ladies night tonight. It is the right thing to do until we have more information. We are asking for a little time to get accurate facts on what the announcement by the premier today means for curling clubs before we make a call affecting all leagues and bonspiels for the next three weeks. ... Our afternoon league coordinator tomorrow will know whether curling is able to go ahead in our area. Stay tuned for updates. Stay safe!

Thank you! Thank you to all of our wonderful members for their diligence in keeping to the covid regulations to the best of their ability. We know it’s different, and we appreciate the effort. ... Skips, if you have a sub who has never been in the building, please make sure they know the expectations. Including checking in with the health questionnaire (QR code at the door) each time they enter the building, and the one time waiver acknowledging the covid rules. These forms can be left on the table for a board member to retrieve. This would help the league coordinators if you could help guide your spares to do these things. The season is up and running thanks to our membership.
