Did you do a bunch of shopping at Nature's Fare Markets over the holidays? Bring your receipts in to the Music School and we get 3% back on the items you purchased! Thanks to you and Natures Fare we just received a cheque in the mail for $526.21, and now more than ever, every little bit helps! All money raised goes towards purchasing new instruments for students and/or ongoing heritage house restoration projects, so THANK YOU! We couldn't do this without you :)

Thank you so much to all of our glorious students who helped us send a Christmas card to each resident at The Hamlets at Vernon this season, and who submitted a video to add to our Christmas Recital collaboration :) To date there have been 513 views on YouTube! We appreciate you all so much, and are already looking forward to next Christmas. <3

It's that time of year! With the Vernon Winter Carnival Society annual parade coming up in a few weeks (Feb. 6), it's time we get started on our Wild West themed parade entry! Because this year the parade is in reverse (meaning entrants will set up a float or scene on the side of the parade route and spectators will be marshaled through the street in their cars. Each entrant will be spaced according to physical distancing protocols), we’ve created shifts. There is a sign-up s...heet in the office if you would like to participate during the parade and/or help with decorating! Students are welcome to join us at the event if they want to sign up for a spot! They must come dressed in the theme, and this is the perfect opportunity if you have pre-teen/teenage students who are bursting to come out and have some fun. They must sign up in the office, as we have a limit on the amount of students per shift due to physical distancing constraints. Watch for photos throughout the weeks to watch our entry come together! Whoop whoop!

If you're not quite in the Christmas spirit yet, listen to the voices of the VCMS Vocal Ensemble. Heavenly! Kimberley Veedub

Oh my goodness, my heart is SO full <3 Our kids are the best, some of them have decided to join our "Gift of Music" project by writing Christmas cards to each resident in one of our local retirement homes. Look at the care that went into each card! Don't forget to send in your video of you performing, if you'd like to join in the project! The deadline is December 9th!

That’s a wrap, folks! The @vernoncommunitymusicschool is closed for the holidays. We made it to December, wahoo! See you in January, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and don’t forget to check out our Christmas recital on YouTube! #buildingcommunity #merrychristmas #vernonbc

Given that we won’t be able to have Christmas recitals at any of the retirement homes in our community this year, we are creating a project called The Gift of Music. If you are learning a Christmas piece and want to be recorded, please let us know! We will compile all of the videos together, and send them to the various retirement homes in town. Residents can then watch the videos in their facilities, on a big screen. Deadline for the video submission will be Wednesday, De...cember 9th. You are encouraged to introduce yourself and the piece you are playing in the video. You are also more than welcome to dress up if you wish!

How great is this? Louka is discovering violin, and has gotten his pretend violin to learn the proper technique for holding the instrument as well as using the bow. We're so excited for you, Louka!

Now this tickles our funny bone! Q: How did the skeleton know it was going to rain on Halloween? A: He could feel it in his bones! Here's Sully the Skeleton, playing his piece from Ms. Jennifer. Way to go, Sully!
