February is Low Vision Awareness Month! In the interest of spreading awareness, we wanted to talk about benefits of tints for patients with reduced vision. Patients with ocular disease often have reduced contrast sensitivity and this usually translates into difficulty navigating around objects that blend into the background. Conditions such as Age Related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy can cause this difficulty. Many of these patients can benefit from yellow or orange tinted sunglasses. Yellow and orange are high contrast lens options that can allow the patient to feel much more comfortable and not have to worry about missing a tricky step or bumping into an edge that was difficult to see. Make sure if have a family member with low vision to give them this helpful tip!

Finally, we have Dr. Dan Vespa! He and his wife Natalia established Vespa Vision Centre in 2003. He has been caring for patients for over 20 years. Dr. Vespa was born and raised on a family farm in Essex country with 4 brothers. He is married to his lovely wife Natalia, and they have an amazing son named Luke. Dr. Vespa is outdoorsy, he also enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, and is a big fan of old cars.

Dr. Monica Wryk has been an Optometrist since 2013. She was 1 of 18 Canadians accepted to Illinois College of Optometry in 2009 from approx 1000 interviews and a class size of 160 and she values her education and clinical experience from there . Dr. Wryk enjoys travel and learning about new places, especially the cuisine/wine/architecture. She love animals and has had a chameleon , chinchilla and still has a bird thats 22 yrs old. Monica got married in 2018. She loves reality TV (Amazing Race, Bachelor, Survivor, Say Yes to the Dress). She can speak/understand English , Spanish and Polish .

Dr. James Boutros is one of our associate optometrists at Vespa Vision Centre. He was born in Windsor and grew up in a family of six, including three sisters. Having grown up in a large family he is quite family oriented and enjoys spending time with them. He has a Lebanese background which has heavily influenced his upbringing. Due to this upbringing, his greatest passion became middle eastern music, however, he enjoys listening to music of all cultures. In his leisure time he loves spending time with his fiancee, friends, and playing video games.

This is Karen our General Manager. She has worked with Dr. Vespa for the past 15 years. Karen is a Registered Nurse, a Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant and was at one point a Registered Veterinary Technician. Karens true passion in life is to help others. She has participated in numerous health fairs educating the community about eye health, low vision and career options in the optometric field. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her son, husband, family and friends. She also likes going to zumba classes and playing beach volleyball. Karen does not like getting her picture taken, so she said this one will have to do!

Rajka has been with Vespa Vision Centre since it opened and has greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to work in all departments, including Low Vision. Her background is in accounting but she much more prefers serving patients and her team over crunching numbers. Rajka has been married to her loving husband for 30 plus years and has two wonderful children.She loves visiting her homeland Croatia, attending Mass and learning Spanish.

Celeste is the dispensary lead and is in charge of curating and ordering our selection of frames. With over a decades worth of experience, Celeste loves helping our patients not only feel great about their vision health care but also helping them look great with our wide range of vision wear fashion.

Dayna has been with Vespa Vision Centre since 2015. Previous work history includes LASIK in Toronto and Victoria and at an animation studio in Toronto. Dayna spends her free time with her husband, son, dog, cat, family and friends. She enjoys reading, 90s alternative music and getting tattooed.

This is Amanda L! She has been a part of our team since 2016. Youll likely see her around our office either at the front desk or getting you ready to see one of our doctors! She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends. Amanda also has a background in psychology and primary education. She enjoys working with children and encourages the importance of annual pediatric eye exams.

Kristen has been a part of the Vespa Vision Centre team since 2018 as an Optometric Assistant. She is usually the person that performs the dreaded puff of air test to check your eye pressure before you see the doctor! Kristen has a degree in biological sciences and loves spending her free time outdoors or travelling.

Hi Everyone! We wanted to do some staff bios, so you guys can get to know us a little bit better! First one is Amanda, but to avoid confusion in the office, is referred to as MandaD. Student of Opticianry, with 6 years experience in the optical field, including dispensing, repairs and frames. Outside of work she is usually found at home in the kitchen, doing renovations or chasing her chickens with her fiance
