When you speak, vowels and consonants help you pronounce words. When you play the violin, your bow helps you articulate music. Bow strokes can be long, short, connected, separated, short, smooth, accented, or even bouncy Tori Gould, VS Principal Second Violin, discusses bowings and what they look like in the orchestra.

This concert represents a musical postcard from our Music Director Christian Kluxen from his home country of Denmark. The Danish String Quartet’s Nordic Suite captures the essence of Scandinavian folk music while Nielsen’s most widely performed work, Little Suite, showcases the composer’s fluency in the late-romantic style from a uniquely Scandinavian perspective. Premiering on January 21 @ 7:30 pm at www.victoriasymphony.ca, this concert is available online until February 19, 2021.
