A very unique and special tribute to commemorate the life of #RCAF Captain and Canadian Forces Snowbirds member Jennifer Casey. Bravo to all who contributed, and to Vintage Wings of Canada’s Dave O'Malley, for designing the Trenton Snowbirds tournament hockey sweater. https://www.facebook.com/612527171/posts/10157370090102172/?d=n

Last weekend, Mike and Megan drove to the Arnprior hangar to change the oil in our Hebard Tug, which is under restoration. They then each went for a flight in the Cornell before driving to the Gatineau hangar to work on other tasks. They repeated the routine today, minus the flights. Thank you Megan amd Mike for your outstanding and unwavering commitment to keeping us aloft. If you’d like to join the crew, contact us at [email protected] or send us a message.

A special way to end this Remembrance Day. Dave O'Malley’s research into those from Ottawa who lost their lives in WWII created a wonderful collaborative project, Neighbourhood of Ghosts. The stories unfold the lives of each person, and connect them with their neighbourhood. After plotting the addresses of those lost, a grid like pattern emerged that resembled a musical staff and, from this, a musical piece was created. As explained by Dave: Lani Sommers, music teacher at ...Lisgar collegiate here in Ottawa and her flute students have finished a project to honour those young men from their school who died in the second World War. I provided her with images and addresses of some of these men and students visited their former homes. They did a wonderful job. Congratulations Lani and students on this moving act of remembrance. I note that the young people playing their flutes are just a few years younger than the men who were lost. https://www.facebook.com/612527171/posts/10157326087872172/?d=n

Vintage Wings is very excited to introduce this publication, which is now available for sale on our website. Written by W. R. "Bill" McRae as a memoir for his family, "They Also Served" chronicles his experience as a Canadian fighter pilot during World War II. This excellent story was published by the Northwestern Ontario Aviation Heritage Centre in Thunder Bay, in collaboration with Bill's children.... https://foundation.vintagewings.ca//they-also-served-a-spi
