This month, we are excited to announce our highlight product is Curved Glass. Curved Glass is an increasingly popular product fulfilling several different architectural needs. Whether it is curved glass railings, canopies, insulated glass units or skylights, curved glass is on the rise. Vitrum Curved Glass goes through a specific tempering process to ensure that the glass meets safety standards every time.... Using the LandGlass Bi-Directional Bent/flat glass Tempering Furnace. The glass is heated until it is malleable and can be curved. The tempering furnace then slowly curves the glass and once curved, quickly cools the glass to ensure a strong, tempered glass. The Curved Tempering Furnace is capable of bending Frit painted glass, Low E glass and digitally printed glass. We are also capable of making curved Insulated Glass Units. Our products meet ASTM C1464, ASTM C1048, CGSB12.1-M90 standards.

This amazing project at YVR International Airport in Vancouver BC came together beautifully! This project utilized a 10ml SNX 62-27 over a 12ml low iron tempered laminated glass. The glass required for this specially designed project was produced with tight tolerances that are well beyond the normal ASTM standards. This glass walkway is made up of 3 ply laminate with a Trosifol Translucent White inter layer to allow light while still offering privacy. Plus a 1/4" sacrificial layer with custom pattern anti slip frit for easy replacement. Vitrum anti slip ceramic frit complies with ANSI A137.1 & ASTM C1028. The design options are endless!... Fabricating glass is a complex process. Equipment, process, and raw materials are obvious critical factors. However, none of it would work without the craftsmen (men and women collectively) that carefully ensure process and quality markers are met at each phase of our glass fabrication journey. 22 years ago Vitrum began as a small, family-owned, insulated glass manufacturer. We carefully selected expert craftsmen for each specialized skill required. Over time we grew. We ad...ded product, services, equipment, and vastly expanded our square-footage. Today, we are one of the largest glass fabricators in North America. Today we still pride ourselves on finding, developing, and cherishing our craftsman and we still believe it's the key ingredient to our success. Staying sharp isn't just for annealed glass - Vitrum Glass Group recently hosted an internal learning session for Production floor managers. Karan Cheema, Vitrum's Business Optimization Specialist led the group through several decision-making processes. The goal wasn't to help the group reach a singular decision but to help the group enable a process so a decision could be made. The session reminded us that leaders can be "cut from the same stock-sheet" and attain similar en...d results, despite implementing their own unique method and perspectives. The intersection of quality and culture starts with daily crew talks at Vitrum Glass Group. Piero Fedele is a Plant Manager at Vitrum and has been with us since 1998. Piero masterfully curates positive messaging for plant employees prior to EVERY shift and reviews various quality goals and safety reminders. He takes the time to reward and provide staff accolades at these meetings and joins in a raucous group rendition of Happy Birthday to celebrate staff birthdays each month.... At the end of the meeting Managers evaluate and physically check each and every team member’s safety gear prior to them starting their work. He says it’s not enough to tell them we care about safety, By checking their gear, I show them their safety matters, they absolutely matter. His care and compassion for the work and his team is infectious and it’s no wonder his employees hold him in such high regard! Vitrum Welcomes Co-op Student v. 2.0 Ryan Harder!! In September 2018 Vitrum announced a new partnership with Simon Fraser University’s Student Co-op Program. Our first term, which ended in December 2018, was a resounding success. Our students Mansangeet and Amrita left with great pride for the contributions they made, our team received many benefits from their fresh perspectives and their desire to learn, investigate, and achieve. We are now pleased to introduce our newest... Co-op student Ryan Harder, who is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at UBC Okanagan. Ryan has big shoes to fill given the success of his predecessors, however, his enthusiasm and determination is immediately apparent. We are looking very forward to sharing our knowledge and passion for glass with him over the next four months. Ryan will be working HARDER (sorry Ryan, I’m sure you get that a lot) alongside Navid and Sunny. We look forward to working with you and getting to know you over the next four months!
