A great big THANK YOU to all who contributed to Dr. Kieffer’s Ride for Farley fundraiser this summer. Dr. Kieffer and two colleagues Dr Wayne Murray and Dr Jim Fairles joined forces to complete a beautiful 80km trip along Georgian Bay! Thank you for your support and your donations to help pets in need! The Farley Foundation helps low income pet owners in Ontario (Seniors receiving GIS, disabled individuals on ODSP, CPP Disability, abused women entering registered Ontario women’s shelters and low income individuals) by subsidizing the cost of non-elective veterinary care for their sick or injured pets. Since opening its doors in 2002, the Farley Foundation has assisted more than 9000 pets, big and small and has distributed over $4 million dollars in assistance.

With stage 3 of Covid-19 reopening plans starting today, we would like to let our clients know what our policies will look like going forward. Please note we are still NOT allowing clients into the building, in the interest of everyone’s safety, at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your understanding! Large animal products and food sales will continue to be processed and picked up in the front vestibule of our clinic, as we have been doi...ng these past few months. Please call ahead when possible to have orders prepared in advance and to save wait times when at the clinic. There is a shield guard in place in the front entrance lobby, but we ask that all clients entering the vestibule please wear a mask and sanitize their hands upon entry. We would like to thank our clients for being so patient and supportive through this uncertain and difficult time!

This is a common hurdle we see on farms and in clinics, and sometimes can be tricky to avoid.... This article provides a good overview on what to watch for and ways we can help these calves before they head for trouble. https://calfcare.ca/managing-diarrhea-outbreaks-in-young-/

March 17, 2020 update regarding the COVID-19 situation. As of tomorrow, March 18, 2020 our clinics will be open only for emergency/sick patients and food and pharmacy sales. All non-urgent appointments and surgeries will be contacted directly and be post-poned 6 weeks. On-farm calls (herd healths, large animal emergencies) will continue as planned but we ask that clients self-declare if they have been out of country recently, come into contact with someone who has or are showing signs of respiratory illness PRIOR to our veterinarian arriving so we can take the necessary precautions. We appreciate your understanding as our protocols change to keep our staff and clients safe.
