In July 2019, Canadian Convenience Store News awarded her one of the Star Women in Convenience Awards. This #TBT we would like to formally introduce you to Carey the Beaver! Pictured here second from the left (if you couldn’t tell ) Carey was born as an illustration by talented illustrator Dave Whamond, for the 22nd Annual Larry Carey Charity Golf Classic and made his 3D debut the following year, in August 2014! Since his debut, Carey has played an important roll in spreading cheer at our Christmas parties, team appreciation events, service awards and our Customers’ store ope...nings. He’s also a regular feature in our internal newsletter and communications. Carey is all about safety, and he regularly demonstrates proper safety protocols in our Health & Safety posters. At his heart, Carey is a golfer and loves to spend his summers on the links and I am sure his winters too if he wasn’t so busy spreading cheer and safety awareness. Recently he’s dipped his toes into the world of social media and we thought he should be formally introduced. The best part of a good team, is working with people who inspire you. At Wallace & Carey, Kevin, a solutions architect on our IT team, is one of those teammates. In 2019, Kevin took part in an epic bike ‘Tour du Canada’ , riding an incredible 7,548.5 KM by bike over 499:39.28 hours!! This past summer, he said he scaled it back to fit inside a 2 week break from work. Riding 1,157 KM total distance over 115 hours. He climbed 12,931 meters, traversed 2 mountain passes, and o...nly encountered 2 bears. Congratulations Kevin. This #ThrowbackThursday we want to introduce to you one of our longest-serving teammates, Dave Morgan. Dave has been providing Wallace & Carey 44 years of consulting work and still going strong!! Here are some fun facts that make Dave, well, Dave; Installed and programed W&C's first computer back in 1976 for a company called CCA Computer Corporation of America.... When CCA Computer Corporation of America moved its office out of Calgary in 1980, Dave, at the encouragement of Frank Carey, set up his own company Morgan Programming. Dave was a member of the Board of Directors of Wallace & Carey for many years. Loves to spend most of his time outdoors hiking, climbing, fishing or just leisurely walking around his neighbourhood Loves to travel, in fact, Dave has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in the Andes mountains in Peru. Loves his annual relaxing fishing trips to Sioux Lookout in Northern Ontario where he goes to visit his Brother. Dave worked very closely with Frank Carey and was a huge part of the growth of Wallace & Carey. Congratulations on achieving October’s Teammate of the Month! It's that time of the week again #teammatetuesday! Today we introduce you to Linda, one of our top-performing, first line, team players out of our Edmonton, AB branch. Linda’s competitive nature drives her to be successful in any department she is in, all while having a smile on her face. This week marks 30 years with Wallace & Carey, and we could not be more proud of Linda’s accomplishments through these years. Since starting in Receiving, the department has been rolling, ...very devoted to her job and tasks at hand Reg Operations Manager, Edmonton, AB One of the hardest workers in any department she is in. Linda’s loyalty and dedication to getting the job done is unmatched. Tom General Manager AB, BC Linda might live in Edmonton but she supports the better NHL team in the province #CalgaryFlames. Marilyn from our Regina Branch Marilyn recently celebrated her 5 year anniversary with W&C and wears many hats in our branch with a great attitude.... Her high quality work ethic shines whether she is taking care of our frozen/cooler department in Regina, supporting and improving our GDP & OH&S departments, or assisting with our Customer Service team; she truly is the definition of #OnlyAsATeam. We are so fortunate to have her leading our team by example and her willingness to learn new skills.
