WSA PRESENTS BARBARA KENDRICK - OPENING OCT 3 The unique talent and delightful printmaking techniques of Wasaga Beach artist, Barbara Kendrick, will be on show at the Stonebridge Art Gallery starting October 3. This is the second exhibition of fine art presented in 2020 by the Wasaga Society for the Arts (WSA).... The Barbara Kendrick show runs until November 28 and was planned and organized by WSA’s Art Curator, Sue A. Miller. The gallery is located in Wasaga Beach’s Stonebridge Town Centre, 1 Market Lane, (Suite #8), Wasaga Beach, ON L9Z 0B6, in space generously donated by Stonebridge principal, Mark Crowe. Barbara Kendrick, an original printmaker and painter, draws creative inspiration from nature. Her paintings are created mainly with oils, acrylics and mixed media. And her repertoire of printing techniques includes monoprint, collagraph, dry point and relief. Printmaking, as an art form, has a long history and Barbara's work breaks with tradition to create ‘one-off' unique works of art, said the WSA Art Curator. ON SHOW This WSA Barbara Kendrick exhibition will present a variety of printmaking techniques. Many of the collagraphs were inspired by driftwood and branch structures and were created with single or multiple collagraph plates. The relief and drypoint images combine printmaking with chine colle, a Japanese technique of fusing fine tissue onto the paper at the same time as the plate is printed. This exhibition also presents monoprints created by transferring a textured surface, created by hand, onto a large hand roller which then is carefully transferred to paper. The Stonebridge Art Gallery is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Admission is free of charge. Public health guidelines relative to the current global pandemic are strictly observed. Masks are available at the gallery.
